It seems that there has been a lot of discussion concerning joystick, so I started this thread to have it in one location. Also I have a sidewinder joystick that is not recognized when I try to set it for BF42. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have been using a Sidewinder Precision Pro (the first one, not the current one) and it works fine. I have used it both as a Gameport Joystick and a USB Joystick (with adapter) and it works fine in BF1942. I have also used a Gravis Aftershock Gamepad which works great too. However if I had both these devices connected (say, joystick in gameport and gamepad in USB port or both in USB ports) I could not use one device (seemed to be random which one would work and which would not) no matter what I set the "prefered device" to in the Control Pannel game controllers section.
That is what I know. Sidewinder Joysticks should work fine, do you have any additional controllers installed? I am also not using any game controler software like the Sidewinder profile software or the Gravis program. Works fine with the Windows XP default setup... not to mention the Sidewinder software does not work with the gameport version of the Precision Pro that I have in Windows XP.
Is your joystick recognized by Windows? Are you not able to map it in the control options of the game?
I just bought a Logitech Wingman Attack 2 joystick.. I'll let you guys know how it works.
I also picked up a gravis gamepad pro for Madden 2003 Armada. ;)
MS Sidewinder FF2 here... Works GREAT in the game... Say what you will about M$, but they do make some darned fine hardware!
