“Poll Shows Drop in Bush’s Job Approval”
Catchy headline, but like most polls you have to delve into the data to truly understand how misleading that headline is. In this case, Will Lester of the AP wrote,
“Adults were evenly divided on Bush's job performance in January, but now 54 percent disapprove and 45 percent approve. The number who think the country is headed down the wrong track increased from 51 percent to 58 percent in the past month.”
But if you were to read the actually polling data and the associated responses, you could also claim the following:
Out of a poll of 100 people, a majority of which were white, protestant, female democrats without children, and only a high school diploma, 58% think this country is “headed in the wrong direction”
