Morrowind
WOW!
Picked up the PC version today. What a game. Can waste tons of time just looking at stuff. Character creation truly has a pen-and-paper fell to it. Completely open ended gameplay. Only spent a few hours with it and I'm happy so far.
On a different note, some of you may have seen me at practice for a few minutes the other day. T2 has been given me crap the last few weeks, getting nothing but UE's. Tried fixing it but no avail. Hope to avoid another reinstall.

Still playing it Wick? What are your thoughts now, a week or so later?
I've been playing it like crazy. Went nuts this weekend. Only 9th level so far, but it's a ton of fun. Had a bounty on my head (I'm a thief) and had to run a LONG way through some very dangerous territory because the Siltdrivers wouldn't let me pay. Then I got bit by a blighted worm and contracted a facial cancre which did like -33 to my Personality.
Man, those folks in town didn't EVEN want to know me. :)
Finally made it to Balmora... avoided the guards by running across the rooftops. Made it to the temple, got cured, then paid off the big-wigs at thieves guild to "clear my name".

I would like to pick this title up, but I read that there are massive technical problems and frequent crashes...Have you found this to be true on your systems?
-
I dunno about "massive technical problems", but it's a bit unstable.
I've had it crash to desktop maybe 4 times, and once I had an "illegal pointer" error while picking the lock on a chest. Fortunately these errors don't lock your system up, you just load the game back up again and you're in business. If you save often, it's only a minor irritation.
Also, there's a "hack" available which removes the overhead in the CD authentication. As a result, load times are superfast and you pick up a good amount of FPS as well.
This game is *worth it.*

Yup, still playing it Squidly. Great game.
I haven't experienced any crashes or technical issues, Faxman.

I've got this game....I'm having some fun with it so far. No real problems to speak of, though at one point it was crashing whenever I tried to end a merchant transaction with "cancel". Also, I've lost two travelling companions by getting too far ahead of them and changing zones. I only hope NWN is half as good as this game; I only wish Morrowind had multiplayer.
-
Plot-wise, NWN will be what folks make of it. Hopefully the tools are solid. I'm thinking that the Evil Petting Zoo will make a good NWN server when the time comes.
-
No crashes whatsoever here. Runs great on my end.
You got a link for that CD patch Squidly?
thanks

Definetly going to pick this game up along with Freedom forve when i get the chance.. :)
Although they will pull me away from EQ, nothing can break the addiction that game has on me.. it truely is like crack.. Yes, that means I broke down and am playing it a lot again.. about 2 hrs a night as I count it so far this week..

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll make a quest to Best Buy tonite.

Don't be dismayed by how UGLY everyone looks. I mean the graphics are terrific, but the faces on the townsfolk (with a few exceptions) are enough to make you cry. Looks like the populace fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
:D

I get paid tomorrow. If, and this is a big if right now, I have the money for it I am all over this game. It sounds great. No multi is no big deal to me as I have been looking for a decent single player RPG again and Morrowind sounds like it may be the one.
Small question, what point of view is it played from? First person or third person? Just currious.
-
First person, but you can toggle to third person by hitting the tab key.
