Anyone playing tonight? I'm signing up for another free trial.
You should play DOOM3
Soon. Very soon.
Fax,
I'm "porter" in game.
Tune channel 31 as axis, that's Windhund's channel. Tell them you know me (if I'm not on)
Doom gives you 3 opponents, WWIIOL gives you 3,000 :)
Has it changed in 2 months? I graphic's and models were still pretty poor. Also they hadn;t fixed the ride for 15mins and Die and drive another 15mins to die again!
keep in mind, it's NOT a FPS. It's a simulation. So, just like RL, you can die w/ one bullet, and not know where it came from. Teamwork wins.
With this free trial, my in game name is "hellbent". I'll look for you.
So, no changes!
Fax, I'll be hard to find if you keep playing French and British. :)

Can we get a WWIIOL Forum? I'd probably be talking to myself most of the time....
so what is new? You just need to listen to yourself. Miss you here at the bank.
What's new....
Anti-Tank Rifles for infantry. Deadly on light, damaging to medium, and annoying to heavy tanks.
Visible damage models. Now when I shoot the Hurris, spits, havocs, blens and d520's out of the sky, I see where my 28mm HE round hit their plane. They catch fire, they blow apart, they explode in mid air. You can see a wing fall off, and the plane careens to the ground. Hit a stabilizer and watch them spin. Using a FlaK28 at a forward base to kill planes is my forte(like Ages with the SA-7 or Stinger). FB defense can be boring, but I'm not much of a Marksman with the rifles. The Luftwaffe asked me to stop wasting planes too. If I do spawn infantry, it's to defend our armor from sappers, or to participate in a building to building battle in a contested city.
Remember, the graphics were sacrificed for the sake of a really big map with no zones. Therefore, you can run an HE-111 bombing mission with BF109 escorts to the factories in Britian, AND affect their production, research and development schedule. Or die trying because of the RAF. And you do all of this without zones or warp points.
In the works;
--bridges will be destroyable by bombs and sappers, and will be repaired by engineers.
--brigade spawning, the brigade that your squad is assigned to will have a cap on equipment, so choose your unit wisely, and treat it well.
--more vehicles, more infantry types, more towns, more players.
I've been compiling stats on the player base, and WWIIOL is up to 87,000 unique players. Of course, part II is to calculate the number of active players, each players enlistment date, so on and so on.
What makes it different?
The maturity level of the playerbase. Asshats are few and far between.
This game isn't catered to the classic FPS type, but the war sim enthusiast. Yes, you still have the opel rides to action, yes you still get shot out of nowhere. The learning curve to the game is large, but everyone is willing to help so that the playerbase grows.
I will try again sometime in the future. Map is still hanging in my home office
yeah, I need to print one out. maybe you could use one of your plotters to do it?
pretty please?
How much does it cost per month? This has always sounded intriguing to me. I've been adamantly anti-pay-per-play, but if there's a free trial and it's reasonable, my circumstances have changed enough to make me reconsider for one really, really good game.
