New computer Probelms
Today, I unpacked the new computer, set it all up...it ran fine for about an hour.
I was playing The sims for a bit and it suddenly froze, there is no reset button on the case, and I cant turn it off unless windows says I can. So I fliped the switch on the power bar......turned it back on and, I got a blinking amber light and a black screen....I checked the card (GeForce2 GTS) the fan was spinning and it didn't feal hot, the connections are right.
The only thing I can think of is the card is defective. Any other guesses?
EDIT: now it beeps 4 times on startup
UPDATE: I just looked in the motherbord book and it said 4 beeps mean "video card not found or bad video memory"
This sucks...

Well, it sounds like you've pretty much solved your own problem there, but here are a couple things you can try:
1. Take the video card out and re-seat it.
2. If that doesn't work, take the video card out and replace it with one you know is good from another computer. If it still doesn't work then, something (most likely your AGP slot) on your motherboard is fried, or (very remote possibility) has a bad BIOS setting. (Though it will be hard to get in and manipulate your BIOS with no video output!) You may want to try flashing your BIOS with an update, if you have another computer with net access to download one.
If it is indeed your video card, then it's time to send it back from whence it came for an exchange.
And next time, look into a computer with a reset switch... http://www.augustknights.com/ubb/wink.gif
