Favorite Concert
I noticed that on a few posts a while back that you all were talking about your first concerts as a part of the RIP Thread for Farah, MJ and Billy.
Soooo what was your favorite concert?
Mine would have to be the KISS Reunion tour in I think 1996. The show that they put on was amazing! Hard to find any shows now a days that go that extra mile like KISS does.

I have several that I group into "favorite". Kind of lame, but once they hit a certain plateau they're the same for me.
Greatful Dead - Lake Placid, Toronto, and Saratoga - sometime in the 80's.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Saratoga and Burlington, Vt.
Frank Zappa - Burlington, Vt.
Nine Inch Nails - Philadelphia
Radiohead - Camden, NJ
Norah Jones - Central NJ
-
Yeah, I have 4 that stand out in my mind:
Pearl Jam - Tad Gormley Stadium, New Orleans LA
Lollapalooza 1996 - New Orleans, LA
U2 - Superdome - New Orleans, LA
Rush - UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans, LA

I had totally forgotten about Lollapalooza. The best one for me was in I think 92. Had Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Primus, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Ice Cube. It was an amazing and by far the best Lollapalooza concert fest I have ever been to. I remember it took place when Hurricane Andrew was plowing into Homestead, FL. We were getting Hurricane updates inbetween set changes. Was an amazing concert.

Lollapalooza was awesome, and I wish it was still around.
I went in 1996, which was the summer after my senior year in high school. The main lineup included Metallica, Soundgarden, and Rage Against the Machine. I remember watching Soul Coughing for the first time on a small side stage, and was blown away. I still listen to their old stuff to this day.
Every year in New Orleans they have a 3 day music festival on Halloween Weekend called Voodoo Fest. This year's lineup includes Kiss, Jane's Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, The Pogues, and about a zillion others (full lineup here). I am hoping I can convince Kidd to go down with me at least for 1 day. :)

Well for me Big Cypress indian resevation for the millenium with phish was epic for me. They played for 12am to 8 am and the sunrise was sick......I just did phish in Red rocks Co and that venue was epic.

About 4 years ago there was a thread about this very topic. I wonder if it is still buried in the database somewhere.

I dont know... watching the stadium clear out after half a performance from Cristy Lee Cook was pretty epic.
Of course seeing here showing her new horse at the local Horse shows under the alias of "Kit Dobner", too avoid all the paparazzi and local crazy fans im sure, was pretty epic too.

This thread jars some awesome memories..
I was at Lollapalooza '96 in Syracuse. 10th row for Metalica was nutty, though I was front row for them at Woodstock '99 so.. Ironically, my now finance was also there at age 14!
I use to have a lot of favorites until this past labor day. Umphrey's Mcgee at moe.down 10, Turin, NY. We showed up early, watched from the front row, and I actually managed to get a question answered mid show by Brendan. (great cover of Making Flippy Floppy). I'm still pretty happy with the way the video came out using just the digital camera. Jake warming up , and Making Flippy Floppy into Jimmie Stewart which is a 100% improvised on stage - you can see their hand communications if you watch it.
After that, here's a few others that standout.
- Chili Peppers, Wood Stock '99 While the place went up in flames.
- Phish, The Great Went '97, Lime Stone Maine.
- Roger Waters, '99 iirc, Scranton, PA - Best lightning storm concert EvEr. The rain was heavy enough that you saw every single spot light, needless to say Shine on you Crazy Diamond was ... intense. :melt:
- Jewel, Lilith Fair '96, Scranton, She asked and received 100% silence then sang to the mountain without any mics or speakers. Wild..
Upcoming:
- Bruce Springsteen at the Spectrum next Tuesday.
- Umphrey's, Chicago New Years Eve (3 days, 3 shows).

Nine Inch Nails Detroit 1994

Lollapalooza Detroit 1997 (Tool, Devo, Korn, Snoop.)

I hope to continue this list but now I have to drive 4 hours just to go to a concert :(
