We traded in a cowboy for a yellow-bellied, lily-livered, liberal invertebrate who goes around the world apologizing to our enemies on behalf (read: at the expense) of his fellow Americans. As much as I was ready for the cowboy to ride off into the sunset, I'd welcome him back without reservation.
"I think it's true that Obama's apologetic approach will have consequences. The question is, will those consequences be good or bad? [Peter] Wehner reminds us of the sad history of John Kennedy's disastrous encounter with Nikita Khrushchev in Vienna; history suggests that an attitude of submissive weakness is not one that brings out the best in bloodthirsty dictators."

How about the release of these interrogation memos? The Obama administration is fully divulging all of our enhanced interrogation tactics and procedures (thereby giving aid and comfort to the enemy), but not the positive benefits that came of the enhanced interrogations, which have been redacted from the same memos. As many of you probably know, repeated waterboarding of Khalid Sheik Mohammad resulted in the capture of the Geruba Cell, a group of East Asian terrorists who were set to carry out the second wave of the 9/11 plan, which involved ramming airliners into the Library Tower in LA. The release of these memos is part of a transparent plan to smear Bush and his administration, while persecuting those who took it upon themselves to do everything within their (legal) power to prevent further terrorist attacks, indisputably saving American lives. Perhaps the NY Times ("All the News That's Fit to Print, Unless it Remotely Benefits Republicans") should hire Obama as a reporter when his tenure as POTUS is mercifully over; he'd be a perfect fit.
You guys seem pretty freaked out by the Chavez photo op.
I find it comical to portray Chavez as the Antichrist and yet we finance his government and drive our economy through our purchase of Venezuelan oil. In fact, we buy almost the same amount of oil from him as we do Saudi Arabia, another notorious bastion of freedom.
(How now, Chairman Mao?)
Oof... bad example. (How now, Great Communicator?)
The fact that Chavez is a piece of excrement doesn't diminish the U.S.'s need for oil. I have taken a lot of enjoyment from the plunge in oil prices though ... Chavez got real quiet when it dropped to around $35 a barrel a few months ago. It's a shame that we have no viable way to cut off the oil spigot and watch a lot of these oil-tick dictators twist in the wind.
Put aside the hypocrisy for a moment. Is Sonic saying that Chavez is a decent guy? Is Sonic espousing dictatorships? Is Sonic espousing socialism? Is Sonic espousing state control of the press?
Put aside the two faced nature of OUR country, and tell us how you feel about Chavez and what he's doing.
I guess
Bush + evil dictator = Win
Obama + evil dictator = Fail
Reason? We like Bush, we dont like Obama.
I'm not troubled by Obama meeting with the likes of Chavez. Being the national leader means haveing to deal with assclowns like Chavez and company - and that's just how it is. Not like he can make relations much worse. And acting like long lost brothers - that's just good politics. It's a little unnerving how Obama seems more comfortable with Americas enemys than in the company of our own friends - but perhaps that's just being a good politician with the enemy side of the coin. I'd give Bush that benefit of the doubt, so I'll give it to Obama.
Nor am I bothered that the US buys oil from Venezuela. It's just how things are.
What I am bothered by is that I still think Obama is in over his head. His spending practices make Bush look pretty fiscally responsible afterall. I also fear he is projecting the image of weak and pacifistic president, which will embolden our true enemy's. Chavez is a pathetic little dictator who can't do much harm to the US. The likes of Korea and Iran scare me far worse. And with those, I think Obama was a mistake. I'm also troubled by Obama's view that all problems should be answered by the Government.
One thing Obama supporters keep forgetting is that myself, and whole mess of other folks, didn't think so much of Bush either. It's not being hypocritical to call the Obama expansion of federal power BS, if you also called the Bush's expansions BS.
One addition - a minor point really, but minor points are often indicators. WTF were his staffer's thinking with the NYC Air Force One photo Op? No, I don't think Obama gave the order to do so, but the fact that his staffers thought this was a good idea isn't encouraging. It's the kind of "the rules don't apply to me" attitude that I dislike seeing in a leader. A leader should lead by example, not by position. The fact that they alerted the NYC PD, and then instructed them not to tell anyone is just typical. The phrase "let them eat cake", always comes to mind when I see this.
Its easier to swallow what you said, and as said before im not an Obama supporter. I agree with somethings and disagree with others, the same when Bush was in office.
Its just hard not to argue with people who act like Obama is the Anti-Christ because he smiled at Chavez.
If you want to bash Obama at least do it for a real reason.
Obama's latest tax plan: http://apnews.excite.com/article/200...D97VR0PG0.html
While touting this as a way to raise revenue and keep jobs in the US, it will do just the opposite by driving more corporations away from the US entirely.
What we really need to do is LOWER taxes and make the US a more competitive place for businesses to set up shop. This plan does just the opposite.
Not the best recipe for pulling us out of a recession.
Well, duh. The socialists aren't going to stop until businesses are sucked dry and everyone is reliant on the government for handouts. How dare folks be productive and want to keep some of their money? I mean, what will they use it for -- stupid stuff like paying higher salaries to their employees? Folks who don't want to work deserve a piece of that too.
Since when has the left ever felt the need to give reason for their brand of insanity? Bush was considered the anti christ by people that were anti religion, yet Bush was not politically a conservative. Obama was considered the second coming by the same anti religion people. It's ok for the left to have hate America parades but when the right has a peaceful tea party, they are considered a dangerous group of people that should be on a watch list. I can see why some people just prefer to sit in the middle and go with the flow depending on the time of the month. :egg:Quote:
