Nvidia FarCry performance review, including the reference 6800 ultra. %900 does very well, specially with the 1.1 patch.
Just FYI i think Nvidia has an ace up ther sleeve this go round if needed. Im hearing tell of a whopping 600mhz version of this card DOH!
heres the far cry testing http://firingsquad.com/hardware/far_...dia/page10.asp

New vid card installed. 3DMark 2003 score went from 1861 to 5097. BF:V looks pretty sweet now with everything turned up. Now to finally install Far Cry. :)

Come back to the ATI side of the fence.
-
Come back? I never -ever- was on the Radeon side. :)
Pretty happy with Nvidia right now. Not compelled to hop the fence.
-
Okay then, I guess I'll just have to toss you over the fence. You'll see the error of your ways soon son. :)

Stitch.. he hasn't reached the age of enlightenment yet. :D

What I'm wondering is, are the game developers writing code yet that can even take advantage of what we already have?
It seems like whenever a new generation of cards comes out, it takes forever for games to appear that can use all the bells and whistles on the chipset and, by the time the games have caught up to the cards, there's a new generation of cards out.
Not that I'm complaining about fast cards...

Actually Devs are implimenting alot of New tech in current titles. The level of realism is getting great with these new effects! Seems they impliment these new shaders and lighting effects as the game engines develop now and by releasing patches to update to newer version of the effects.
I think Devs are stoked because of the level of realism just within ther grasp, much sooner than many wouldve thought to i might add.
2 of these cards really stand out to me, The Nvidia 6800GT being a 1 molex connector slower clocked 16pipe badboy and the x800 pro for its lower price point whilst overclocking nicely only bad part it has but 12 pipes.
Im very keen on getting me hands on a GT, may well hit a bargain pricepoint for clockers like me! surely will be at least a couple months but still very excited bout this card! Prolly try and hold out for the fall refresh of these new gens if i can to tho.
Heres a tasty morsel of comparison:http://www.nordichardware.com/review...index.php?ez=2
If your a fan definatly check out FiringSquads latest review for a good GT/Ultra/Extreme compared to ATI etc. The GT clocks well make me drool...

I think it's funny that the X800XT has a recommended power supply of 300w and the 6800 ultra is 480w. I think after looking at all the reviews I will be getting the X800XT.
-
I read yesterday that they are dropping the power requirements for the 6800.
Read this.

yeah, i believe in this case a recommended specification was takin as ammo for ATI fanboyz and used against Nvidia. Thers quite a few peeps that take this whole ATI/NV thing a bit to seriously around the web last few months ill tell yah.
As far as power req go, i read One reviewer ran one off of an 200 watt psu so i think it was simply a conservative recommendation from Nvidia. After seeing FiringSquad's GT with 1 molex connecter clock so well and other reviews with 350 watt psu's etc im not even concerned.
Im going Nvidia just because after trying both lasst gens i still like the refined feeling of NV hardware and drivers. NV cards seem alot more backward compatable as well. Its not like theres any real bad reasons not to go with either or tho, just matter of preference.
IN this round ATI has basically put out an r300 chip on steroids that has awesome performance and doesnt suck up power to bad at all. Job well done and If ATI is your thing this card looks to be awesome without a doubt.
Bribo after seeing the 5900 in action im sure your like me wondering how 2x and then some with even more features would be like! DROOL!!
