I received the parts just before noon. Got everything put together and...... it doesn't work. :-( when I power it on everything spins up just fine but no bios beep and no video at all. I have spent the past few hours trying every different config to try and get it to do something other then just spin around. No dice. I did some reading on the Asus website and it looks like it's the motherboard. I called newegg and I have a RMA issued. Gotta ship the board back and wait for a replacement. Looks like my excitement will be curbed for another week or so.
It knows you are a console fan boy and will not perform for you until you have demonstrated your worthiness!
It's working! I did more digging and putzing and I figured out the culprit. Once of the 6 sticks of memory was bad. And with my first few tests I kept using that bad stick of ram as my process of elimination. I need to contact Newegg and swap my RMA around to swap the memory kit out. So sadly i'm only running with 6gb of ram at the moment :-( LOL.
Looking at process manger with Vista installed blew me away, I wasn't expecting to see 8-cpu's listed with my one i7 proc.
I only have two words for this.... Wow.
yea, i just got done building almost the same system for a co-worker. i7, 12gig, 4 raided velociraptors, 3-way sli with 3 285 cards. he is running wow with a full custom UI and in nax 25 full AoE going he gets 65+ fps
I think he meant World (of) Warcraft... he was omitting the 'o'. ;)
