As for going to SFSU, if I do go, I don't want all that crap to mess with my experience there. I have heard how beautiful it is there, and at this point in my life, need something fresh and new.
So all in all, does the good outweigh the bad? Or is San Francisco just a hell hole that you're stuck living in? :D
San Francisco is on par with the best cities I've lived in. It doesn't have the humidty of Singapore, the rain of Seattle, or the heat of Austin (my three other favorite cities). The weather is generally good and the location is awesome (3.5 hours to Tahoe and Yosemite, walk to the ocean, 3 hours to the Redwoods, 8hrs to LA)... it's a great spot. Like Singapore, it's a very diverse population. You'll see every culture and lifestyle on parade (usually in the nude). It doesn't have the same music scene as Austin, but you get a lot more touring bands. The city itself has an eclectic zoning history, so you'll find tons of houses and businesses mixed throughout the town (which is unlike downtown Seattle in my experience). This gives you a bit more of a homey feeling but with a few more heroin addicted uncles walking around in leather dresses burning effigies of George Bush)
The Chinese New Year parade is a blast and good for families. The new Giants ball park (SBC Park) is the best ballpark I've ever been too. Tons of romantic things to do if you're on the prowl.
