You're still not clear on the VMWare/Bootcamp thing, are you, Hy?
Palooka should've said "PC free zone", I guess.
Well if we can convert, say, another 15% - 20% "PC / Windows" users over to MAC... the gaming environment will take care of itself. ;)
Just put me down in the "wannabe" on a MAC list... at some point it WILL happen. Or color me envy green.
I'm not exaggerating that I know at least 10 acquaintances/friends who have purchased a MAC (new and/or used) in the last 6 months.
It's a result of Microsoft's self-inflicted wound (i.e.. Vista).
You are absolutely right. Don't get me wrong though, I like WindowsXP. In fact, if they simply made DirectX10 for WinXP I'd probably still be very content and happy for awhile. (No, I'm not comparing WinXP to OSX as I love OSX and it's elegance - I just happen to think XP is a pretty solid OS and it's a shame MS crashed and burned with VISTA).
Vista is the new ME, I'll officially say that now.
Its ok though, Windows 7 is on its way guys... lol.
want to be non-pc, but mac prices scare you? get some wine.
i just grabbed a new hp on the cheap, and I'll be installing ubuntu this morning. (believe me, i'd buy a mac if i had visual studio for the mac.)
i have got a feeling that wow will run better in linux.
for instance, i have an old pc at home. P IV 2.0ghz, 786MB RAM, 256MB Nvidia 66xx series. i get about 21 FPS with everything turned down. that is just around what I remember wow running at before...
the laptop will be a good test.
i'll post results.
wine will bring life to old hardware :)
OK, here's my new MacBook question. Is there a way I can create a task or script so that I can put an icon on my desk or in my dock to restart the computer from the BootCamp partition? I have the Steam version of Civ 4 and it doesn't play friendly with VMware.
I think this is what you are asking for:

A two line Applescript that you can put in your dock that will work as a switcher for your Boot Camp partitions.
For those too lazy to go into Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk :lol2:
