I had LOTS of problems with SP2 on my last motherboard - an MSI board with a VIA PT880 chipset. It would cause random reboots while browsing the Internet. I used the downloaded network install of SP2 on that machine.
When I built my new system the other night, I updated to SP2 immediately using Windows Update. So far, no problems at all. It's running smooth.

Just updated from stock(no updates at all) to SP2.. only took about 6 hours.
All in all I'm impressed right now, running smoothly and no problems. *knocks on wood*
edit: been running smoothly, in fact I think much faster, for over an hour.. SP2 gets my approval and my Laptop is now being updated to it.

Ever since I downloaded it, about 3 days ago, whenever I load a map of BF it crashes to desktop. Any suggestions on what it is?
-
I'd blame that on SP2..
Actually, I have no idea..

This is the time that I wish I actually knew something about computers....

I have the crash to desktop issue in Battlefield as well. It does not happen all the time, but enough to be annoying.

Why in the world are you people continuing to subject yourself to the madness of SP2? What is the pressing need to apply it?
Just wondering... happily at SP1 with no problems.
-
Well ... when I rebuilt my system, Windows Update went straight to SP2. It has no option to install Service Pack 1.
-
Gotcha. You had no choice. I have a choice and I'm doing what Nancy Reagan suggested - "Just Say No". :)
-
It is giving me NO problems when installed with a fresh install of Windows. I would not upgrade to SP2 from an older install.

I haven't had a single problem with SP2, so I really don't get what people are complaining about. /shrug
