I'm probably going to hop on around 8:30 or 9:00 Eastern tonight to play--anyone else going to join me? Hy, Fax, and I need some company--we tried playing 2 on 1, but there's just no way for the solo player to beat back those odds.

I'll be on.
I'm not sure whats going on yet this evening, but I might be around.
I was off today, so I picked up Rainbow Six Vegas at EB. :uzi:
Just have to share that Beast, Fax, and I had an awesome time last night with Company of Heroes. It's a blast to play once you figure out the basics. It doesn't make me very good at it, but at least I can do OK.
We had a 2 on 2 with me and Beast taking on Fax and the CPU. The first game we had the CPU set at level 2 of 4 and it and Fax pretty much cleaned our clocks. But the second match we set it down to 1 and the CPU/Fax were a little slow off the punch, but then starting taking it to us. They had a TON of tanks so I retreated back to the main base and started pumping out anything and everything anti-tank. I then slowly worked down to Fax's main base, or close enough to it, where I could rush in soldiers and call in an air strike. Once I did that, I holed up some troops around the buildings and starting calling in airborne reinforcements and some more bombing runs and the tide eventually turned for us.
Obviously the story above is from my perspective, Beast was doing a great job of recapturing supply points and sending in some artillery to reinforce my efforts at Fax's main base. That last match must have lasted a good hour and a half or more. It was great.
If you are making a decisions about buying a game, skip Rainbow Six Vegas and get COH!! It's very challenging and entertaining.
Can't wait to play again.
What a fantastic match! It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The map could have went either way at any point. I was turning out panther tanks and 88s and as fast as I could to hold the center victory point. I managed to hold, but took a huge loss to my armor reserves. Once the front shifted to the western victory point, I was over confident and drove most of my remaining tanks into a well sprung trap of allied AT guns. Without adequate support, my cherished 88s were quickly brought down, leaving a clear road directly to my HQ. All told, it was a very evenly matched map. It was well played by everyone, and my thanks for showing up. We'll have to do it again soon, for sure.
When are you guys playing again? I'd like to get in on this.
Fax and I typically play Monday and Wednesday evenings, but speaking for myself, I'm flexible most Monday through Thursday nights. Sundays will open up, too, once football season ends.
And yeah--last night was probably the most fun I've had yet with this game.
This coming Monday 9pm EST, we'll be ringing in the new year with a CoH match. All are welcome, so meet up on ventrilo. Please post if you're interested so we can start the match promptly once everyone show up.
I won't be able to make it, regrettably. I will be on this Wednesday, though, which is the next night in our semi-regular CoH rotation.
Reminder: game tonight 9pm EST.
Thanks to Palooka and Hy tonight for a great match. In the end, the Krauts managed to hold with the use of Tiger and StuH assault units. Lots of fun.
We got owned! :uzi:
I made a few tactical errors but I couldn't get enough production built up fast enough to counter with the necessary tanks and anti-tank firepower. I had one rush where I got close to getting a stronghold, but I ran out of reserves and the troops holding got wiped out before I could support them.
Another fun night of COH.
Just curious but what skill trees did you both use? I know for certain that someone went airborne.
I used the blitzkreig doctrine tree this time around. I relied on the "resource blitz" ability for a lump sum of manpower at the expense of ammunition points. I needed the excess manpower to field the Tiger and StuH urban assault squads. At 1000, and 700 manpower points respectively, they aren't cheap, but you get the heavy armor and a squad of stormtroopers.
I used the defensive one, whatever it's called. Too bad I never got a chance to set up defenses.
