Azmo - I had a blast playing Beta. It's a lot like WoW in that the UI and combat are similar, and questing is basically the same. It's very polished and the graphics are stunning.
I'll be playing casually just to have something other than WoW to do, but I have a feeling this one may suck me in!

From Aion's Facebook:
Within the next four weeks, we will treat European and North American gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in Europe on 25nd September and North America 22th September. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place 6-13th September and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.
Players who have pre-ordered Aion will be treated to a Pre-Select and a two-day Headstart period giving them the opportunity to explore, organize and progress through the game prior to the official launch. Pre-Select will take place on 18th September, while Aion's Headstart will begin 20th September. Players can still participate in the Aion's Pre-Select and Headstart programs by pre-ordering the game through several participating online and brick-and-mortar retailers.

Sweet, we get a beta with 1.5! Will the beta key we used for previous betas work for the open as well? I hope so!
I need to go ahead and pre-order - I was just going to get it off Steam, but I like the idea of getting in a day or two early and reserving my character name early.
Speaking of names, I always have a theme. My WoW toons were named after my favorite female movie characters. My Aion toons are going to be named after Joss Whedon's Dolls. :)

I love stalking Aion's Facebook page...
As added extra spice, FilePlanet will--in addition to distributing the client--be giving away a load of open beta keys starting on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Get on the starting line if you do not have an eligible Aion account already! Eligible accounts include any previous closed beta participants and those who have preordered or prepurchased Aion.

I haven't felt this much joy since [TK]'ing Kidd in a BF1942 match back in '03

If the patch download is any indication of the launch we are in trouble. 20kb per sec download it will take all week.
-
I got mine through the torrent and it just took a couple hours
-
Looks like an updated client via Fileplanet. I will use that. I also preorder so hopefully a beta key will show up soon, so I can try it out on sept 6th. I smell gold already.......

Thier on some trickle download thing now. 20-50k
When i got mine before I was downloading from 150-300K (still took all night)
-
How are you guys getting the new client - just through the NCsoft Launcher?
-
I got mine through the NC Soft launcher.
Ive been dinking around with the free trials of Guild Wars, City of Heroes, etc. I also Downloaded Dungeon Runners <--- I think thats what its called. Its pretty funny and free with the members get better stuff deal.

This game seemed to me like a mixed copy of WoW and Ragnarok Online with the gameplay style (WoW) and class style (RO). Both games are fun, so I can't exactly claim that this is a reason the game would be bad though :nuh:.
When does it come out? I think I'll be one of the many waiting for reviews.
-
General release is the 22nd of September but if you preorder you get in on the 18th to reserve your toon's name and get to play on the 20th.

Download is complete and fully patched. There is now an intro movie and some sound updates. For the heck of it, I tried to log in and *poof* nothing. This waiting really does stink a little.
