Who's doing what with their initial certs??
Like to do MAX or Hacker.
Proposed squad leader hierarchy:
Squidly
Hale
Bribo
...in that order.
If I'm not on, but Hale and Bribo are, Hale gets the squad leader tag. If only Bribo, Chooz and Rick is on, then Bribo gets the tag. If Hale then joins, he gets promoted. If I join later, I get promoted to squad leader, etc.
To recap- we're doing this to make sure that we focus command EXP one of 3 individuals. It won't do us any good if we have 5 guys at Command level 2. Lets get 2-3 guys up the ranks as fast as possible.
Also, I'll set up the "outfit" and invite everyone to it.
As far as certs, everyone will need a "ride" or a Max cert initially. Mabye we should concentrate on making ANT runs for a few nights until we get leveled up to 6 or so.
Bribo, if you want to take Harasser, you can also buy ANTs. I'll cert in Galaxy.
It'd be nice if we could get an engineer to do repairs on the boat when we run into trouble.
I figure that after we get to 5 or 6th BR, we can trade in some certs and start in on our real specialties.
I really don't have an interest in Squad commander.
I plan on going Medium Assault, Special Assault, Harasser as my first three certs.
Maybe if you offer stitch an important position he will play. Secondly, is the outfit going to be trying to stay up in the outfit points, if so, might want to recruit people a bit.
You're third in command. Your role at that point will simply to be "lets go attack X".Quote:

This isn't like planning BF1942.
HollowP - I don't see us recruiting for PS...
... but I'd encourage anyone who is playing any game with us and hanging out here in the forums to fill out an application form off the main AK website.
I'll be the Engineer if someones a Medic.
What am I? Chopped liver? :(
Seriously, though, the squad leaders should be the people who play the most, period. That way, those people will be racking up the command experience. I'd enjoy playing as squad leader, but I can't say I'll be playing every day.
...and that was factored into the decision... :DQuote:

If it makes you happy, you can be 4th after Bribo... ;)
I plan on playing the bejeezus out of this game.
Then, if I lose interest, selling my account on eBay. :)
I'm "behind" since I didn't get to participate in the BETA and will be starting from scratch other than from reading the manuals. I'm fine with whatever command structure you put in place because I'll just ignore all of you anyways!
I'll fill whatever role we need, but I was thinking of taking on roles that may not be "in your face" battle hungry such as hacking & engineering or something along those lines that may include driving transports and the such. Then in 'combat' role, perhaps sniping (hey.. they come in handy!)
So I suppose certs in infiltration suit might be helpful along with transport ships, etc.
Just some thoughts and what I'm "interested" in.
We can use hacking, and healing. Engineering is always valuable. I'd stay away from the big transport vehicles at first... they take some getting used to and have a way of killing entire squads. :D
I just certed in Medium and Galaxy. I'm an NC BR 3 on Emerald East. See you all tonite at 9 :D

The infiltration suit isn't foolproof (ask gunny). There are serveral different ways to detect 'cloakers'. You may be better served getting hacking and other certs before the suit and see how you like it.
If you want to be an engineer, I'll take medic. A combat engineer is similar to a Tribes deployer (go figure :) ).
If we're doing ANT runs initially we need medic, engineer, a Max and a hacker.
Infiltration suit isn't fool proof, but it is fairly affective. Great for taking out snipers and for sneaking into towers and bases, but watch out for blacklight implants and the vanu seem to be able to see you without implant. Not sure if their weapons have thermal capabilities or not or if they are just lucky alot. When you move you can be seen just like in the movie predator, if you stand still you go completely invisible as long as they dont have the implant. If you get infiltration suit when you hit BR6 you may want melee implant 2-3 swipes with your knife and they are dead.
I see cloakers all the time even without the implant. It's really not that hard. Especially if they are moving. Hale and I killed a slew of them last night.
I made BR4 last night - I now have Med. Assault, Special Assault, and Harasser (+ANT) certs. Next cert will be Hacking.
Last night Hale and I were on Cysorr and in the biggest firefight we had ever been in. There were people everywhere both friendly and enemy. It was amazing and a pant-load of fun.
By the way - I would encourage everyone to be what they want to be as far as roles go. The point of this game is to have fun. Play what you want to play and enjoy yourself. No point playing something that you don't like.
I'm grabbing a galaxy cert, and will go special assault.
There was so much lead in the air at Kaang last night it made my pants sweat.
Certainly everyone can do what they want, but it doesn't hurt to have all our bases covered.
I'll fill the engineer role. I will also have MAX armor for beat down situations. After that I'll get combat engineer (deployer), and then prolly a vehicle cert of some sort.
I planned to focus on engineering, hacking, and perhaps sniping eventually. I will probably do the reinforced exo armor.
BTW... is there a list somewhere that identifies which armor limits which vehicles you can use, etc ?
AFAIK:
Standard/Agile: All: Driver/Gunner/Passenger
Reinforced: Can't drive, but can gun or ride (I think)
MAX: Can only ride on Galaxies or Sunderers.
PS: Who wants to be a medic? :)
Do we even need a medic? Do you get XP for healing people?
Hale - Reinforced can pilot the 4 wheel cycles and the off road vehicles (like the Harasser.)
Yes and Maybe. As an engineer, I seem to get random experience when nothing else is going on. But, keep in mind, that an advanced medic can resurrect your sorry butt after you get gunned down. Potentially saves a long walk from the nearest spawn point.Quote:

I think even a regular medic is a useful guy to have around. If you are doing a hack defense, being healed while defending (or even in combat) makes a big difference.
I'd do both, but I don't have room in my pack for all the equipment and still have a gun to shoot someone with.
I think a hacker/medic with an infiltration suit would be valuable. That way he could stay out of sight until needed (for healing) and would still be useful when not healing (peforming hacking duties.)
If you "really" need this role, I'm willing to give it a try to help out - just under the guise that every once in awhile I need to have fun letting loose too! ;)Quote:

I'll be going for MAX.
But this time instead of getting every MAX cert first as I did in Beta, I'll probably buy Medium Assault and the Dual Cycler MAX so I can do something at least if I spawn at a mobile base. Then get the other MAX's.
After going through training I should have 5 certs which is enough for med assault and the DC MAX.
Too bad we are playing on the east coast server. My ping is often over 200+ (over 300 sometimes) to it. And we are playing TR? I actualy prefer the other two, oh well.
If you'd like to be the Engineer, I'll be the Medic.
Well, we can't have everything, Wid. Or, in our case, we can't have anything. I knew we should have kept AK strictly west coast. :)
LOL - Hale.
I'm looking to do this I suppose:
Engineer (Combat) & Repair / Medic
Hacking / Advanced Hacking
Sniping
Infiltration Suit (May try and do Reinforced Exo eventually as well)
Ground Based Vehicles (Deliverer, Wraith, Marauder)
I think folks should play what makes them happiest... just keep in mind that you may need to beg for a ride if you concentrate all your initial certs on non-max infantry stuffs.
Don't you mean beg for a ride if you concentrate on Max Suits?
Hy:
Good luck trying to carry all that baggage around in an infiltration suit.
Hylander - No, the Max run-mode is plenty fast enough... it's like having a vehicle on your back at all time...lol.
However if you're in Agile armor and the rest of your posse is on the other side of the map, get ready to enjoy a 15 minute (real time) run.
Squid is right.
MAX run speed is pretty good, locks your weapons so you can't fire while running but keeps it going fast enough to get places. Watch the hills though, if you go flying off one... ouch.
Well those are all the things I was considering certing on, not necessarily do all at the same time. It would depend on the mission, etc.Quote:

I should have my combat engineering cert tonight, assuming I didn't lose too much XP when the server went down.
It was nice having a bunch of MAXs on last night.
Having 2 engineers in the group definitely helps. I mostly use mine to repair my Reaver, but I was able to lay some healing on Hale and Ven0m a couple of times there on my way to the v-pad.
Don't forget the repairs you gave Palooka's tank.
One thing I've learned while flying the Reaver - the key to survival is the hasty retreat.
Vehicles don't last long without repair. Any dedicated vehicle pilot should also cert in base engineering at some point. An exception would be the transit vehicles like the Basilisk, Wraith, Harrasser, and Mosquito.
