New Look for The Joker
As you know, filming for The Dark Knight has begun in Chicago. Following directly on the heels of Batman Begins, this next foray into Batman retells the birth of the Joker ala Heath Ledger. The script really tries to focus Joker's claim that Batman created him and tells a backstory of a man with nothing to lose (except his mind) and how a run in with the Bat resulted in the Joker.
Here's the first screen-test of Heath in make-up:

There will also be a pretty big batsuit costume change around 1/2 way through the movie that is attracting a lot of fanboy attention. The batmobile will be back (rumor is that they built 12 of them in various condition).
With 300 director Zack Synder already starting work on Alan Moore's tour de force, The Watchman, next year's comic movies look to be a good batch aimed at more mature movie goers (versus the weak GhostRider and probably weak Fantastic 4 II.
By the way, here's an Easter Egg from the 300 dvd to be release soon... yep, it's a single frame of Rorshach. As I'm a huge fan of The Watchman, I' quite excited about this movie and pray they do the ground breaking graphic novel the proper justice. The Watchman and Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns are my favorite reads.

Heath Ledger? Are Batman and Joker going to have some nude love scenes? "I wish I knew how to quit you, Batman."

Can't wait to see it, although I still think Nicholas as the Joker was the cats-ass.

Tapping into viral marketing two new websites have come online in support of Batman's next film:

Let the first one load for a while and you'll see the final version of makeup for the Joker. Much darker and not so funny.
Update:
The ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com has changed to black on black text with a hidden message inside. They've removed the image of the joker, but you can find it here: http://im.rediff.com/movies/2007/may/22look.jpg

To me the best Jokers were Cesar Romero and Jack Jack Nicholson. I am not a big fan of Heath. He does not really look funny evil.

Heath Ledger Found Dead in NYC
Jan. 22, 2008, 4:52 PM EST
The Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m.
The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" and has numerous other screen credits.

This had better not screw up Batman.
-
It shouldn't screw it up....this movie had an entirely different flavor to it from any of the other Batman franchise movies.
Joker in this one was a devilishly sadistic character in this movie....I don't believe there was much humor to his character.
-
The shooting for the movie is complete so I don't think it will screw up the movies release. From what I've seen of Ledger's Joker I really liked. The over-the-top cartoonish Joker Nicholson played, while funny and a good fit for that movie, was not really in keeping with the Joker from the original comic book who was dark, evil and insane.

Batman Begins was a great movie.. I cannot wait for this summer to see the new one.
