    Civ Iv

Do we have any Civilization players in AK? I just finally purchased the first expansion for IV this past weekend when I was browsing around STEAM. I think I'll pick up the 2nd one as well.

I've always liked playing CIV off and on, but only in single player mode for the most part. I like starting a custom single player game, huge map, 9 or 11 AI, start from the very beginning, and the only victory is domination. It usually keeps me busy for a few weeks when I jump in and play and hour here and there... or if I get 'addicted' for a few hours.

Just curious if any AK are into it.

I've always considered Civilization one of the greatest games of all time. Civ 1 almost cost me my girlfriend and a college degree. Civ II was an even better game than Civ 1. Civ 3 left me dissappointed. I've been wanting to check out Civ 4, but never had to time for it. I wonder if it's the bargin bins yet, I've heard a lot of really good things about it.

As to multiplayer, I guess I'm weird but I've always enjoyed the single play turn based aspect of the game.

I've owned Civ 3, all expansions and now Civ IV. I like IV alot - and even better with the first expansion so I'll probably buy the second as well. Now that I think about it, I did try multiplayer with 2 guys from my sim racing group and it was OK. You can set it for a maximum time per turn so it moves along pretty well and you can save the game, pick up later, etc. If someone is disconnected, the AI takes over that person until they reconnect or you can pause/stop the game. It worked pretty well - the hardest part getting the same people together at the same time to complete the game.

Love Civ, but I have never played a single match online, oddly enough.

Maybe one night we could throw a match together to see how it goes.

Sounds good to me. Sometime next week perhaps.
I'll be heading back to Pennsylvania this week, and it's going to be a busy one. I'm going to see The Pogues perform in Philly on Thursday, and then I've got my daughter's baptism on Saturday.

Sure thing.. let me know when you have the time. Next Thursday evening I have a meeting to attend - but I think otherwise I'm OK.

From everything I read it's better to run the Windows version under boot camp than to get the Mac version.

It's been a busy week, but I'm going to either pick up a copy or grab it from Steam. I'm still interested in setting up a match. What about tonight (late notice, I know) or the weekend?
