Question The use of chat programs...

I have a question regarding the use of chat programs. I have never been a big fan of chat programs as I find them a bit distracting and 1/2 the time you are either hearing someone breathing heavily into your ear or you can't understand a word they are saying.

I know AK uses these programs and will be trying Roger Wilco (Which we attempted to use repeatedly in Counter Strike with mixed results). My "problem" is not only do I not really like using them, but it can cause a problem with the "wife" when I'm gaming. Our computer room is next to the bedroom and my wife is usually in bed by 10PM as she has to get up earlier than I for work. Thus, me talking while gaming does not go over well. Secondly, I use headphones (obviously) and although I do have stand mics, this does prevent me from using a headset/mic combo which I do have, but again.. didn't like.

So my question I suppose is this: Mandatory? OR -Mandatory just to listen and communicate via text?

    Thanks!

We use voice coms for a variety of important reasons. I'll leave it to the captains to address your particular questions.
At least install RW and listen in initially.
