    World War 2 Online/Battleground Europe

They're running a 14 day free trial again over at WW2OL. I've been playing this on and off again for several years, and the latest version seems pretty good. They're also seems to be pretty many people playing as well. Might be worth another look if you're a WW2 buff.

I'm checking out the trial as well starting tonight. If we get a few more, we can form a squad (think "guild", but with tanks and machine guns.)

Funny... I was just thinking about WWIIO a few weeks ago. I use to be part of a really good group of guys in WWIIO (The 3rd Royal Tank Regiment) but the gameplay just never materialized - but this was at least 5 years ago. Matter of fact, I still have the email folder and I cancelled my account in June of 2003.

At the time, I hated the tank que system - especially for the Matilda, and the first person aspect was very lame. The graphics looked like the Money for Nothing video for Dire Straits....

Ha--Ab was making fun of the graphics the other night too. But behind the Doom II-ish (actually, be fair, these are at least Quake 1-quality), is a tremendously realistic damage model for vehicles and people. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzpUVtVUBTI

Hat tip to Faxman for the vid.

At some point today, anyway. I'm in there right now to kill the last 15-20 minutes of the work day and it's still in "intermission" mode. I'll be back to it on Monday (out of town this weekend), ready for the new campaign.

i still have an account, so let me know when people are playing.

the graphics are sub par for only one reason, realism. the damage model is the most comprehensive ever created. there is only one zone. all of the 1940 battlefield is present on the same map, at the same time.

i'm not sure how the whole tank queue is set up now, because i only do infantry, and AA
