    Boring Time: Movie Reviews

With my mother-in-law in town, I've been able to sneak away to see a few movies as of late:

WANTED: Violent, bloody and not the worst movie made. 6/10

HULK: The reason Iron Man worked so well was because it was fun. The Hulk is just depressing. Banner can't be around anyone, he's poor, he's lonely, he's heartbroken. Where's the excitement there? 4/10

INDY JONES: I tried to not have expectations and I understand that the feeling I got when watching the original so many years ago wouldn't be there; I'm older and have different feelings. That being said the movie was weak. 5/10

    Coming Soon:

BATMAN: Rumored to be the best ever. Keven Smith says it's the Godfather II of comic book movies. I have high hopes.

DEATH RACE: I'm sorry, but without cars running over senior citizens this is just a lame remake.

EAGLE EYE: A bit 'Enemy of the State' but with more technology and more explosion. Maybe I'll pay to see this one.

MUMMY 3: I'll wait for the Pirate Bay to deliver this one to me. When Brendan Fraiser gets top billing over Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh I'll pass.

Ong Bak 2: God knows that it won't hit US Theaters but Tony Jaa kicks ass and, imo, is the new Jet Li (pulpy action flicks highlighting his skills and not the script)

HANCOCK: Script hell for years and so many hands in the pot that the plot is a mess + coupled with handicam jerky video + trailers showing everything = I'll pass.

    and of course:

WATCHMEN. The only movie I'm really excited to see. But we've got awhile before this one comes out.

I don't know if you're into animation (usually, seeing an animated film would not be my choice), but "WALL•E" is quite good. I recommend it. "WALL•E" and "Ironman" are the only films currently in wide release that are worth seeing. I can't remember a worse drought of good movies to see.

It is looking like the Batman movie will be the one to see this summer. "Righteous Kill," despite an unfortunate title, looks decent; you can't argue with the star power, but judging by the trailers, the script could be lame.

I guess everyone has their opinion and tastes on movies, so I won't respond on your thoughts on movies. instead this is what I think so far.

    Wanted - Amazing - 9/10
    Ironman - WOW - 9.9/10
Hulk - So much beter then first one - 8/10
    Wall-e - cute - 7/10
    Indiana Jones - 7.5/10
    Kung Fu Panda - Skadoosh - 8/10

As for movies comming soon, I will be seeing

    Hellboy 2 - YAY
Journey to the center of the earth - FUN
Dark Knight - Seeing sneek preview!
Space Chimps - I laughed so hard when I saw this, I gotta see it.
Step Brothers - Sister loves Will Ferrell, Will see it to humor her
The mummy 3 - Totally going to see it.
Sisterhood of the traveling pants 2 - will be dragged there by friends and sis.

I am sure I missed some movies that I will see, and I am sure half of these movies will suck or be stupid, but that is part of the fun of going to movies. Gotta love the no plot, bad acting movies! ex. The blob *the 80's remake*

    Ironman - rocked
    Speed Racer - sucked
Indiana Jones - take it for what it is, cheap/mindless Saturday matinee fluff, then it's not so bad. Treat it like an instant classic of epic proportions and you'll be horridly dissappointed. On par w/ Sky Captain and the World Beyond Tomorrow.
21 - (gone now) good movie - but could have just been the company
Hulk - just isn't drawing my attention, so haven't seen it yet.

    Also recently watched on video:
No Country for Old Men - As great a made movie as it is depressing. If you like movies like Fargo and The Unforgiven, this is a movie for you.
Bucket List - Damn good movie - for dudes. Women won't get it, but will probably like it too.
College Road Trip - has some funny scenes, decent
Fools Gold - Has some good scenes - decent

WALL-E was a pretty film to look at, but it was a mess, plot-wise. Starts out preachy, then rushes to give everyone action and a happy ending.

I give it a positive rating, but it's not close to Monsters Inc. or Toy Story.

I did like the apocalyptic beginning, however.

No Country for Old Men was great. Great acting, great writing, great directing, great ending.

There Will Be Blood - Fantastic film about nothing. Totally pointless, but still worth the ride.

Saw a bootlegged "handheld camera in the theater" version of Ironman. Very good.

Regarding Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants...I know nothing about part 2, but the first one was decent.
But then I liked "Under a Tuscan Sun" so sue me.

Great movie--but (as usual) the book was WAY better. The end of the book went past the point where the movie ended.

People who've seen the early Batman are talking Oscar for Heath Ledger. (Then again, that often happens with posthumous roles when it's not truly deserved.) But if I were to go into a theater this summer, that'd be the one I'd go see.

I'm definitely looking forward to Hellboy 2 as well.

My wife was asking me yesterday at dinner if there were any movies we could go see and we couldn't come up with one to go to.

We both absolutely loved Iron Man - and she was so shocked how much she liked it because she's not a big "superhero" or "sci-fi" fan - even though she enjoyed the Spiderman movies. The biggest downer of course is the movie theatre experience with today's parents refusing to be parents - but that's another discussion.

I REALLY loved Batman Returns so I can't wait to see the new one either.
