    Fun use for new laptop?

So my company just upgraded our laptops from HPs with Win XP to Dells with Vista. The cool part? We get to keep the HPs.

So....what in the world is some way I can use this gift that I haven't thought of? I already have 2 monitors, so I can browse the internet while gaming. Kidd has a laptop of his own for browsing while gaming. Other than disassembling it for a modern art project (which I'd rather not do), what can I do with this laptop that would be useful/cool/internet-dork-worthy?

Convert it to Linux for starts.

Make you official bathroom laptop! That way you can check the forums while on the pot!

Alternatively, put it in your car.

Rebuild it with a Linux distro.

Set it up with a Samba share and put your music and such onto it. Now you have your own little media/storage device that you can utilize from any other machine in the house. It can also be used as a backup device to keep your important files from the main computers in the house also.

Not sure what part of the world you're living in, but here in the Pacific Northwest, my camping gear geek friends and I have set up a laptop for exploring forest service logging roads with Garmin software.

No matter what the map says, there's always more road than what the map says, and having the bigger screen on the laptop makes navigating a lot easier... particularly when mostly drunk on a midnight four-wheeling run at the top of a mountain.

(Yes, we lilly-livered, latte-lovin', limp-wristed liberals up here in the left corner of the country occasionally have to get our redneck on... and nothing cures redneck fever like beer, guns, four-wheel drives and a campfire.)

Better stock up now. That may change if your man gets in.
