This one is a little subtle.

Barrack had the NCAA Champs over to the White House.
After a short press meeting (photo op) he then went down to the WH BB court and shot hoops for a bit with the ladies.

    No big issue.

The White House Press Corps was prohibited from going with the President and bared from filming the event.

    No big issue.

However, the White House's own internal 'news crew' did interviews, shot photographs and video and produced it's own 'press release'... they even used their own White House logo on their footage just like a real news agency.

    Big issue?

This may seem minor but what has occured could lead the way to the President controlling the media access to the White House. He barred the press from covering an official event at the White House (something that wasn't private - like talking to a widow of a fallen soldier) and then used his own staff to produce the event thus controlling the information at the source and allowing only what he deemed to be newsworthy to be released to the public.

    This is bad.

Yes it's minor. Many of you will see this as paranoia. But it's the start of something that I find quite distressing.

Presidents using propeganda and spin-doctoring to make themselves look good isn't new. I suppose you have a point, but really, I don't care.

Longer term, what he just did is ever so slightly alienate the very force that elected him (the press) by excluding them. And his darling status just took a small self inflicted hit. If he keeps it up, some of the press corps might actually be willing to observe and note if the emperor has cloths.

Even bigger picture - I'm a bit dissappointed the man isn't on the ball a little bit better to realize this.

Benito Mussolini was a media darling once....

This is the parallel that frightens me. Make no mistake, history repeats itself.

A group of Black Panthers used weapons and intimidation at the polls to affect voting habits. There is no question that these actions were done.

The Justice Dept. under Obama's administration has now dropped the charges. I find this concerning.

So, how are you Obama voters sleeping lately?

Your saviour just appointed a blatantly racist bigot to the Supreme Court. This woman has posited that a Latino female is better equipped for making good decisions from the bench than is a white male--this despite the fact that her decisions are overturned 60% of the time. This betrays her partiality, which is the primary reason that Obama nominated her (in addition to securing the Hispanic vote, of course). Sotamayor rejects the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which Obama has taken an oath to protect; she does not believe in equal protection under the law. She also believes that the judicial branch should do the work of the legislative branch. This fits right in with Obama's view of governmental power, which he clearly believes should be unlimited. Having actually read the Constitution is evidently not a prerequesite for teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

The so-called American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is an unmitigated disaster. It has only succeeded in deepening the recession and ensuring that the economy will take much longer to recover than it would have had it just been left alone. On average, 16,000 Americans have lost their jobs per day since this abominable bill passed.

Despite pumping ~$20 billion into GM and Chrysler, both are going bankrupt, anyway. That's a hell of a lot of money we could have saved rather than using it to delay the inevitable by a few months. But Obummer got what he wanted in the process: a 72% stake in GM and union ownership of Chrysler.

In addition to porkulus, Obama got his $3.4 trillion budget passed, ensuring that our great grandchildren will still be paying our debt--provided that the US has not gone the way of Zimbabwe (death through hyperinflation) by then, in which case their money will be worth nothing. Having an African-American President is nice and all, but must it come with African economics?

Now that the government is deeper in debt than ever (USA Today reports that the government owes $63.8 trillion), what to do? Why, borrow $1.5 trillion to pay for socialized health care, of course! Yesterday, the Communist in Chief warned that Congress must pass health care legislation this year--or else! Americans need "free" health care now, no matter what the cost. More urgently, Obama needs complete control over our lives, and he will stop at nothing to get it. His pal and fellow liar, Nancy Pelosi, is right on board; in China, where this kind of tyranny is expected, she said, "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory." And you thought Bush was a totalitarian.

While the One tools around the country, raising millions for himself and his socialist cohorts at celebrity-infested shindigs, Rome burns. Furthermore, lest you didn't notice, the barbarians are at the gates. Iran and North Korea busily prepare nuclear Armegeddon while Obama and Congress whistle past the graveyard. The world knows that the fraud in the White House is weak on defense, and its bad actors are not about to miss their opportunity. As Biden would say when he's not poking fun at his boss's teleprompter dependency, gird your loins! Or just sleep like a baby knowing that you helped to bring about this wonderful thing called hopenchange.

P.S. Not that anyone cares, but a convincing case regarding the authorship of Obama's autobiography has been made. It turns out that domestic terrorist Bill Ayers almost certainly ghostwrote the book (http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/..._it_ma_1.html). On October 8, 2008, Obama said about Ayers, "This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois. . . . And the notion that somehow he has been involved in my campaign, that he is an adviser of mine, that . . . I've 'palled around with a terrorist,' all these statements are made simply to try to score cheap political points." Really? Was Ayers just a "guy in the neighborhood" to Obama, as he elsewhere claimed? Had journalists done their jobs rather than slobber over their hero, perhaps the connections between Obama and Chicago's radical (nay, criminal) element would have been thoroughly exposed. Journalism finally died in this past election cycle, much to Obama's benefit.

Diplomats from Iran are still invited to the 4th of July festivities at the White House, despite the fact that the government which they represent is murdering student protesters. What is Obama trying to do? Is there anything our enemies can do that would prohibit him from coddling them? Denying the Holocaust, aiding Iraqi insurgents, and pledging to destroy Israel and America wasn't enough for Iran to lose Obama's favor, and neither is cracking down on its own people, who are fighting for freedom and democracy. This is nearly a tacit endorsement of the bloodshed. Imagine the outrage had FDR invited Nazi officials to a White House party during World War II. Is this much different? The New Left, which has discarded Castro in favor of its new champion, Obama, has nothing to do with liberalism (as in freedom and individual rights) and everything to do with authoritarianism. The Obamites have no idea what they've gotten us into. They are trading freedom for freebies, which is going to result in a letdown of historic proportions. Ignorance is bliss for the majority of Americans.

Apparently, the administration is listening and will flip-flop when necessary. Wouldn't it be nice if Obama were proactive on foreign policy just once? It's called leadership--something with which Obama has only recently become acquainted.

Anyone who listened to Rush today heard him read this piece, which puts a new spin on Obama, the African colonial and aspiring despot:

Let's see . . . Obama is appeasing our worst enemies in any way he can and boldly moving to destroy the most powerful economy in the history of the world in as little time as possible in order to make China--another enemy--the sole superpower. I wonder if his all-time favorite band is Suicidal Tendencies.
