    Problem launching Steam game.

So last night I bought DiRt from Steam, downloaded, and attempted play.. Fail.. MS Application error during the launch. So, ran the verify cache, again – fail. Deleted all local content and re-downloaded. Fail.. Submitted a ticket to Steam support and still waiting for them to reply.

Has anyone had any issues and/or ideas on what could be wrong. It’s not able to go any further than Preparing to Launch DiRt before the generic Windows Error (Event ID: 1000).

    System:
XP64, Intel Quad Core, 4 GB Ram, Nvidia 9800GT

Re-install your steam client. Mine was corrupted once and this fixed my errors. It wasn't a game re-install but the whole client. Don't know I'd this will fix your problem or not.

Cool - giving that a whirl now.

Gonna attempt to copy the game folder to the new steam app folder to avoid redownloading, but my hopes are low..

    Thanks for the suggestion Beaker!
