Dungeons and Dragons Online now free

Don't know if you saw this:

    http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2...ee-to-play.ars

Dungeons and Dragons Online is enjoying a second life in terms of player count and buzz, all thanks to a new business strategy: giving the game away. Turbine is making their MMO as accessible as possible, and that includes making players who don't pay anything as happy as possible. Subscriptions are up 40 percent.

I guess subscribers have more slots to carry things and can get some content and items that non-payers can't but still... might be a cool way to check out the game. My son downloaded the client and was playing a bit over the weekend. Looks pretty cool.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.

I also have played this since they changed their strategy, and found it enjoyable enough. It's actually quite a decent game in its own right, but now that it's free, there was no reason to not check it out.
A warrior is kinda like a blender. You can shatter it from a long way off with a gun, or you could even pull the plug so it can't move, but if you stick your face into it when it's moving........you're going to lose.

I was playing it before Aion was relased. I really enjoy the combat structure and was starting to get into it. I will give it another go once I get some downtime from Aion and Dragon Age.

I tried this as well before Aion released.

unfortunetly i thought the game was slow and ugly, even with the old school DND appeal.

Thanks Azmo. For making me look at Bojan's Rawr-Kitten for 10 minutes again.

Wonder if this had anything to do with it?

Hasbro sues Atari over D&D video game rights contract

"We have been working for several months now to reach resolution with Atari, and they have left us with no other choice than to pursue legal action," said Greg Leeds, Wizards of the Coast president. Wizards of the coast is Hasbro's subsidiary that owns Dungeons & Dragons.
