Bribo and I did the amusement park with 2 pubbers. The final scene with the concert stage was pretty damn fun!! Lights, fireworks, music, zombie mania, and jumping into the helicopter.

I like the fact that they don't have a lot of ammo piles laying around. You have to make decisions on your weapons. Example: I have this nice AK-47 with a laser sight but I'm nearly out of ammo. I just found an auto-shotgun which is full of ammo. Hmm.
Definitely more challenging than L4D. Normal seems like Advanced. Maybe this is just due to the newness of the levels and infected but I think they may have cranked L4D2 up a notch or two.
L4D2 = WIN.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.
Bribo,
I think the "director' which adjusts the scenario (difficulty) on the fly based on the teams performance may also have something to do with it.
In Left 4 Dead 2, the Director has been improved to encourage more participation by players, forcing players through difficult gauntlets to reach the extraction point. It will also have the ability to alter elements of the level such as placement of walls, level layout, lighting, and weather conditions, making each play session unique. The Director will now reward players for taking longer or more difficult paths through each episode by providing more useful equipment, such as incendiary ammo, along these riskier paths.

I'd agree with the weapon selection importance. The combat shotgun is awesome but you can really burn through the ammo. Suddenly the scoped rifle (not the hunting one) is my favorite. It forces me to conserve ammo due to low rate of fire.
"Nade launcher during finales rocks though.
My neighbor and I were discussing melee weapons. The Katana is our favorite. Still trying to figure out the difference (speed/damage). Doe the axe seem slower?

I love the Katana.. and going melee. Like you, the scoped rifle is my favorite as well. 1 click, 1 bullet. I know last night I was probably overdoing the melee, but I was really trying to preserve my ammo as much as possible.
I do like how they influence you in making compromises when you carry items. Want a melee? Lose the pistol. Want to carry defib? You lose your health pack. Etc.
It's nothing revolutionary, but I really like all the changes they have made in the game play. The environmental effects are also very well done. I love the smoke in the burning building.
