Today a co-worker went to AT&T to buy an iPhone. The reps in the store actually steered him away from it, blaming a lot of the call reliability issues on the iPhone, rather than the AT&T network. They worked it so hard, he gave up and just bought a different phone.

Don't know if their service reliability claim is true (beaker's phone also has horrible AT&T service, and hers is not an iPhone, so I have doubts). But it doesn't bode well for the AT&T / iPhone partnership if so.

On a positive note, we're supposed to get 3G coverage in my area this year. Thanks Verizon, I'm thinking your ad's were a little encouragement for AT&T to get off their duff's!
