    Crappy server browser features

    Just had to vent ... it's pretty disappointing how poorly DICE/EA implemented the GUI and server browser/friends features in this game. You'd think DICE would have a handle on the simple parts of the process, given that they have been developing these games for many years.

    They've got a LOT of problems at the moment. I wonder how much of this is brought on by attempts to foil hackers.

    They are just bring back the feel of the orginal crappy server list. It validates the fact that history does repeat itself.

    You mean like not having another input from a controller over ride your mouse inputs?

    When the game is working, it's a lot of fun. However, the frequent disconnects, failures to connect (with no feedback whatsoever), PunkBuster disconnects, crashes, bad frame rates (this is my fault, of course, but it renders me nearly useless unless I'm in a tank or sniping from a good position), and other problems have made much of my time with the game frustrating. I hope they patch it soon. In the meantime, it's time to build a new system; BC2 is the most resource-intensive game I've yet played. In addition to their network code and server browser, I think the engine needs a lot of optimization.

    Yeah, it's the first game I've bought that actually recommends a quad-core CPU.

    Evolve the server and browser code and this game's a winner. I think once we get our own server and can guarantee as many slots as we want it'll get a lot less frustrating.

    I'm not having any issues performance-wise. The game has frozen once and dropped once to desktop, but other than that no non-server browser issues.

    I actually haven't had any issues with the connections or getting dropped yet. I am seeing a performance issue though. I'm now down to running at 1680x1050 on 'low' just to keep the FPS up. When it gets "really" heavy, I drop down into the teens but for the most part it is fine.

    Browsing for servers does take FOREVER for it to load though. Tonight I didn't have to deal with it because I just joined where the other AK were.

    Are you playing it in Windows or in the MAC OS?

    I am having an issue with my medic class. It does not show the 'Defib' tool for me. When I am playing my option 3 is blank. I have been looking at various game forums and it looks like a good number of people are having this same issue. If I pick up a fallen player's medic kit the defib pops right up. From my own class selection it shows up as 'C4' with a set of skull and crossbones. Very annoying.

    I'm a bit bummed that I bought it. Players that play all the time get better weapons, armor, abilities? If I wanted to play an MMO I would. WTH, a medic with no med kit? An engineer that can't wrench a tank?

    @Stitchjones

    I had the same medic "problem" as well regarding the defibs. For whatever reason they are setup as the third unlock for the class. The unlock progression is: medkit->2nd machine gun->defibs. I think they unlock at 5200 medit points, which is odd, as they were free in beta. Until I unlocked them hey had a skull and an RPG/40mm/C4 nonsense tag in the unselectable slot

    I actually like this aspect of it. Playing just for fun is nice and all, but I'm a sucker for getting a reward other that just a "You Win". And to be fair, it only takes a few hours of playing to get all the basic tools you need to be effective - the rest is just gravy.
