That's really cool. I didn't think you were racing much since I wasn't seeing any activity show up in your stats. Now I realize leagues don't show up there, which leads me to a better understanding of why some folks are of the opinion that the leagues are messing up the regional championships. Perhaps they'll figure out a fair way to get them integrated..

I like the idea of a league that rotates between 2 types of car (road / oval). Generally speaking it seems like it'd balance things out even more. I haven't pursued any leagues at this point. Perhaps I should! It may give me more motivation to do more regular racing.

BTW - do league races affect your SR or IR?

No, league racing does not affect any stats. However, I know iRacing is planning to add stat packages and more tools for league administrators.

I will probably start running a league in the future - no, not a 100% Watkins league. But I'm waiting for all the tools from iRacing and also the implementation of multiclass racing. I want to have a Grand-Am like series with Prototypes and 2 classes of GT out there. Or maybe the ALMS car if it comes out any time soon. Or maybe Prototype, ALMS, and Radical. Lots of possibilities.

I was 100% against league / private race implementations. But I think the $3 per race fee has done a good job of keeping things balanced so that not every yahoo is starting a private race outside the system non-stop. I like the 'official' racing series - I just haven't had time to practice, develop setups, and race lately. Not to mention I've been playing Battlefield non-stop for the last 2 weeks.

I'd really like to get into the COT and see if I could get a 'Pro' license - but my iRating would need ALOT of work. LOL

Hmm.. Well if not all Watkins, how about all Watkins and Road Atlanta! That gives us like 2 tracks and 6 configurations to mix up.

Ya, everyone keeps talking about the multi-class implementation. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. I think it could be really fun, but at the same time I could also see it being incredibly frustrating as well. Some people don't even know how to run with people in the same class, none the less having to adjust to faster / slower classes. Besides the fact that it'll require A LOT of cars being on the track together to be worthwhile.

Honestly, I can't ever foresee myself with a pro license. Maybe in a few years after I've been running the COT or comparable car for a few seasons. But I consider myself an average to above average racer. Typically top 25% oval which won't get me anywhere near the 4K+ iR needed for the Pro Series. Besides that, I know I'd get frustrated running with the aliens all the time. I'm not much a fan of running in the back, which is why I practice more than race. Once I'm really comfortable, then I race..

But ya, for the next few weeks - I don't see myself being able to get away from Battlefield during my 'play time'.

I'm with you on the 'comfort' factor. I don't mind being slower, but I do not want to be a moving chicane for anyone. I don't get on the track in a race until I feel I have solid control of the car under all circumstances.

As far as mixed racing, It is definitely a doubled edged sword. However, in a league - you should have some control over policing and who is involved.

I thought the 2.4Hrs of Daytona was going to be a wreckfest and it turned out the be the greatest racing event I was ever involved in. I had an absolute blast and the guys in that race were extremely safe, polite, and courteous on the track. I thought you could get a top 10 by just finishing, but I think only 2 or 3 cars dropped out of the race.

There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to run the 2.4 Hrs. I can hardly make it around the track going slow in the DP - not to mention attempting to go fast. Thus I avoided that one so I wouldn't be the guy creating the wreck fest. Oddly enough, when it comes to the open-wheel cars, I seem to have more and more control the higher on the ladder I go. I'm OK at the skippy now that I've been practicing a lot, but I'm a lot better at controlling the Mazda and have even better control of the Indy car (haven't bought the Lotus yet). Although considering I haven't been able to race in any of those yet, we'll see what happens when I get out there with some competition.

The open wheel cars are 'easier' to drive due to the downforce of the higher level cars, but its hard to go 'fast' in them - at least to the level of the 'aliens' out there.

The skippy is fun to drive - we were running that last season in the Red Sox League until we switched to the Late Model / Mazda combo. Yes - we were running the Skippy on ovals and I won my second race in the league at Bristol, on my birthday. John Henry finished second actually.

    Neat!! Congrats!!

Actually, the option to run the open wheelers on the ovals is one main reasons I've worked on my road license. Looking forward to giving the Mazda a run next season at Milwaukee. Though one thing I find interesting is that for as many ovals the Indy and Mazda (despite slightly less) run, the Skippy's don't have any ovals in the schedule. Heck, they've mixed road courses into the Late Models, why not an Oval in the Skip's?!?!
