VirtualBox / OS - Multiple Monitors

For any of you who may have experience with virtualization - I installed VirtualBox on my Windows7 rig, and everything went fine. I installed Ubuntu, updated it, etc. Again, no problems there. However, I have a dual monitor setup. I have my primary 22" monitor, and then to the left I have a secondary 20" monitor in Portrait mode. When I select the 'full screen' option, it takes Ubuntu and puts it in fullscreen in the secondary monitor in landscape mode, so it isn't really in 'full screen' mode. Its actually a window only as wide as the portrait mode screen.

How or where I do I select which screen to utilize for full window mode while running Ubuntu?

Just for clarification, I want ubuntu to run and utilize the full screen of my primary 22" monitor. Im not looking for it to utilize both screens. Even if I have the window on that monitor, as soon as I select full screen it opens it up on the 20 in portrait mode.

I've played a bit with VirtualBox. Which version of VirtualBox are you using? The reason I ask is that as of VirtualBox 3..2.4 multiple monitor support is officially only available for Windows guest OSs.

That said, according to what I've read it is possible to hack a bit to get full screen support. You need to install something called "Guest additions". This link might help:

Make sure to install the graphics card drivers for Linux. Once Guest Additions is installed go into System -->Preferences -->Displays. There is an option there to "Detect Monitors". It might allow you to see both your monitors and choose the right one. You can also try playing with your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file settings in Linux.

Thanks Bribo - I'm currently using 3.2.6 - the latest version available off the website.

I do have all the additions installed as well. I'll have to research the driver situation. When I hit home+f to take it out of full screen, it returns to my main monitor - but the box won't go any larger than 800x600. If I select discover monitors, it only sees one.

My Linux is rusty - but I'm pretty sure it doesn't install the NVIDIA drivers automatically, so I may have to find them to install them.

I use VMWare workstation on my PC and VMWare fusion on my MAC. They are great!
