AK BF3 Server is a GO!

Just an FYI that I purchased a BF3 server rental for 32 slots. The cost is $41.55 per month.

If anyone is interested in contributing, you can paypal me your donation at sbhusted@gmail.com. It's not necessary, but it is appreciated and will determine if we will continue to have a server after the first month.

I'm just getting started but once I figure out the Admin functions, etc. I'll look to share the "powers" with others as needed and am able.

UPDATE: We did get about 10 people in tonight to test it out and the server seemed to perform well. I'd like to schedule a time when we can get as many AK on as possible to see if we can get the server filled up.

I sat on the AK server for about 10min last night waiting for anyone to join in. It's not like like the old days when we had people galore. Where is the old crew anyways! Let's rock people!

Tuesday night we had 32 to fill it up for almost 2 hours, at least until they decided to roll out the R7 server patch at 9:30PM EST.

The problem is nobody is going to join a server until they see at least 8 or 10 already on the server - since it won't start until 8 people are on it. There is no way to change it, so you can't fly around or do anything until 8 people join in. I had to teach last night so I wasn't around, but I'm hoping AK will attempt to 'group up' to get at least 8 people on the server to get it going. I know several people over on the iRacing forums have added it to their favorites and will use it when people are on.

Stitch was on last night too, but something was stopping me from joining the server he was on. (Anyone know of a virus for XBox? Then he'll have to play the PC version with us! )

When I hear the phrase "red ring", I don't think of consoles, I think of...more painful things.

Need a few reserved slots though.

Nuts - I hesitate using reserved slots because that reduces the number of people who can join if anyone on the 'reserved' list isn't there. IE - If I add all of AK to the reserved slots, that would only allow so many non-AK to join the server, whether those AK are there or not. It would be nice if it would just fill those slots and then auto remove someone, such as the last person who joined, if one of those reserved players wants to join.

One solution would be to increase the people who have access to the management console of the server, which is currently myself and Gunny. And with Gunny having access, I figured that covered 90% of a 24hr cycle!
