OK so I hit 50 and the option to regenerate is available but it resets all your unlocks and resets you to level 1 again other than having a Gen2 tag is there really any benefit to it?

It gives you a prestige tag next to your name, and a 10% experience bonus. Next level is 20%, and so on up to lvl 10 I think.

yeah I understand you get an xp increase but is that the only thing you get other than a flag indicating you have way too much free time if they bump up the level cap at some point will the xp increase still be there?

My son has been playing on my pc from time to time as he waits fro xbox360 on Tuesday and he really wanted to regen so I told him go ahead. It's a pain unlocking everything again so think this will be a 1 time deal, going to just focus on achievements this time around. Back to level 26 already after a few hours which the xp boost doesn't really help as much as the experience and familiarity of the maps which allows you to get a lot of xp per round.

Obviously the leveling will speed up exponentially as you move up through the prestige levels.
