    Maps / Voice Pak

    http://web.lemuria.org/T2/Maps/index.html

Can we get these maps loaded on the server? I found a map making guide and will be making a few "test" maps, just to get the hang of the editor. I spent about 30 minutes in the map editor this weekend and it confused the hell out of me - much different than Tribes I. Once I get the hang of it I will start churning out CTF maps and will be taking requests/suggestions.

I may not be making a "WraithPack" voice addon in Tribes II. It all comes down to a couple of key factors:[*]VOL Extractor needed[*]Size of file[*]Menu scripting

The ability to make voice packs depends on having a .VOL extractor. This was made available by Dynamix in Tribes I and I've seen no mention of it yet. I can't add sound files to the .vol pack until I have that. Yes, I tried the VOL extractor for Tribes I and it made me end up re-installing Tribes II...it doesn't work.

The size of the default voice file is 56MB. By the time I throw in sounds it could grow to be 200-300MB, or more. You really want to download that?

I've attempted to edit the default chat menu and failed. I only tried to add one line, maybe I made a typo - who knows, I just know it WAXED my chat menu and made it blank. I will be trying again in the future. However, I want to concentrate on maps since there are only "so many" CTF maps.

I will NOT be making any lava maps. I hate that frickin terrain.

Sound packs for Tribes were nearing 200MB towards the end...

I noticed not a couple of days ago that the server was not playing certain maps that should have been in the rotation. After looking through the config file, it turns out that those maps require a minimum number of players in order for them to actually load. This is think is cool, since it prevents huge maps with complicated environments from being loaded with 2 players. To me, this degree of intelligence is a huge step up from the T1 servers. Anyway, just thought you might like to know...

Dang and I was gonna request a map that more or less was the size of colorado =).

Or atleast a nice big map that's got water, ice, fire, etc... =) If possible.

Or something huge that newbies will get lost in so they don't have to mess stuff up for us. tee hee.

    Or... bah!
