That was quite a good game I just left.. mighty fun it was.. and I did pretty good on perfecting my sniping skills.. I'm a one man killing machine.. but it takes more than one to make a platoon. Definetly looking forward to some sort of Ladder play.

Indeed... I had a rip-roarin' good time tonight... I played far too many hours of BF1942, and crazy thing is that I didn't play the same map once... This game just rocks! The AK server was hopping for about 12 hours straight today. I put back on password protection because I can't afford to have it running all day every day like that... Sheesh! I got a lot of good feedback about the server, and I think people appreciate my iron fist approach to running it. We had minimal problems tonight, but when they cropped up, they were dealt with quickly. Hopefully they come up with a good admin mod so that anyone of you guys can admin the server when I'm not around to police things. Right now, I have to sit with a terminal server client session to the W2K server on my other computer and turn over to it to kick/ban as needed. Works, but silly nonetheless. Anyway, hope to get some of you guys into a good session sometime next week!

I was on the server on and off Saturday afternoon, and I had a great time. I think it was the first large match I've played in with FF on. Many cool people stopped by, and I'm looking forward to doing it again today. See you on the beach!

I was playing a little earlier on. I average about 160 - 210 on ping times from here on the East Coast. Not too bad and certainly playable. Although I love the EA servers I ping 30 too, but being open.. you know the kind of people you end up getting.

I think I'm going to order a Gainward GeForce 4 Ti200 card to replace my Gainward GeForce 3 Ti 450 card to give me a few more gaming horse power.

I'm not ready for the ATI 9700 yet as I'll go that route when I completely rebuild.

I'd say wait til spring and get a new geforce.. the new ones they are working on will tear apart the 9700..

as for getting a new card, look into the XFX Geforce 4 Ti 4200, they make one with 128mb of Ram on it.. not common for the 4200's.

Just thought I'd come here and say what a great time I had on you guys' server last night. Probably the best experience I've had in the game yet (including all the time spent playing the demo).

Are you guys planning on having the server open to the public very often?

My type Z... Im actually looking at the Gainward GF4 4200 Ultra 650 (Clocks near the default 4600 level). Can pick one up for about $165.00 with 128mb of memory at newegg.com.

The problem with todays new 'speed demon' cards are you are getting to the point where you can afford to give up fps for image quality because really.. how many fps do you really need? As long as I have 40 - 50 fps, I'm more than happy.

I'm developing a tactic for flipping the infantry cannon so that it rolls over my enemies and would like to see how it works against season veterans.

Talus, glad you enjoyed the romp on Saturday. I had a good time myself, and I'm happy to hear all the good feedback about the server. I'll be opening it up to the general public for a few hours most every day. That way we can ensure that there's always someone to police the servers to keep them from becoming some kind of TK killing ground...

I wouldn't be opposed to a little action on the server tonight. I'll probably be on playing a little this afternoon, but 8-9 ET is 5-6 PT, meaning, right in the heart of dinnertime and other family stuff. So, if I come on this evening, it will likely be a little later. The password for the server is "hellfire", Beastie. If more people pick up on that than I'd like, I'll probably change it to something else, but, for now, that will work...

I have been doing some work on my system this weekend. I got a new GEforce4 ti4600 saturday, decided not to go the ATI route, got a good deal on the geforce and been hearing of some incompatibility problems with the ATI, and I have some bad blood with that company from way back. With the 4600 I get 3d mark scores of about 10000. I do not tweak nor do I do overclocking of any kind (CPU or Video card) as I just can not afford to replace anything should I burn it out. I tried out the det 40 drivers and 3dmark goes up to 11000 which would be nice but I went back to the 30.82 drivers because I have read some problems with the 40 build.

I have been getting a strange problem with BF1942 since the new video card, at random times I lock up. Not just lock up but the whole screen goes black then the monitor powers down (the yellow blinking light) like it lost signal. I have to reset the PC as nothing will get the system working again, the led's are still on like it is running too. I believe others have had this problem as well so maybe it will be fixed in a patch... along with some of the lag problems servers seem to have.

Also this weekend my cable provider seemed to be having troubles. When I ping my gateway and get anywhere from 50ms to 500ms replies they are having problems... it has happened before. So I did some computer maitenece/fooling around with and testing with 3dmark at different BIOS settings. I was able to play last night for an hour and a half without a lockup after turning off AGP fast write in the BIOS (no effect on 3dmark score) and defraging my system, amazing how fragged it was after just reinstalling the OS recently. But since the black screen lock ups seem to be random I will have to see if that actualy help anything.

DICE will need to get working on this baby, they aint quite done yet.

Also, a disturbing thing, since I have been doing a share of pubbing in the evenings I have been seeng a large number of Widowmaker names out there. It's sad but I am loosing my identity Must have been because of that movie K-19 The Widowmaker. Maybe it is time I changed my name?

I have been on the Pub servers as Figaro lately just for the heck of it since there are so many Widowmakers out there.

What is a guy to do?

I love the Guadal Canal map and been getting some of the hang of being a sub on Midway. Need more maps with subs on them.

Well, I won't make it tonight after all. I was so paranoid about being able to play and have anything resembling fun on my connection, so I opted for the "try before you buy" route. Unfortunately, the servers check for valid CD keys, and booted me out. I'll be picking it up sometime this week, and taking the gamble that I'll be able to play it, but until then, I get to try out the single player version.

Cable connection still flaky as hell here in Seattle. Getting pings to Yahoo in the 200ms range at the moment with a wide range of variation, pings to my default gateway are in the 50ms - 200ms range, normaly much lower like 12ms I think. Something is fuxxord at ATTBI. I can't play BF1942 online at the moment with the pings fluctuating. Servers I normaly ping at 50 or less are currently fluctuating between 50ms and 500ms which makes online playing very odd. 2 steps forward one step back sort of thing. Realy pisses me off.

I have an email to them to see what the problem is. Others I know with ATTBI in the area have the exact same performance. Sounds to me like they oversold again and need to upgrade... if that ever will happen.

Sucks that it just started the weekend BF1942 came out. This has happened in the past but never lasted like this for more than 5 days that I can remember, 4 days I remember bad performance but not more. I have my hopes up that it will be resolved.
