Changing your FOV

Here's something that a buddy of mine just posted on our forums re: FOV.

The setting is in \EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Settings\VideoDefault.con

The line to edit is:
renderer.fieldOfView

It's defaulted to 1 which gives you an FOV of about 90 degrees. Changing that line to 1.5 ups it to 120 degrees. I'm sure if you play with the number you can get what you want.

I'm going to give this a try tonight and see how playable it is. I used something similar to this with Tribes2. It explands your Field Of View letting you see more things on the periphery of vision (.ie more stuff on screen). In Tribes2 the unfortunate side effect was a somewhat fish-eyed view that took a little getting used to. I'l lreport back my findings here later.

If you can hand-set your FOV, wouldn't that mean you could zoom in farther than you're supposed to be able to?

Not sure how it's going to effect the sniper scopes/zooms. Will have to test tonight.
