Oh no! Someone brought God into the conversation!!!

Let's not forget that the first amendmant, yes that's the one BEFORE your precious 2nd one, says this:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

The most important thing (in my opinion) that the founding father's did was to write the seperation of church and state into their government.

So keep God out of this!

    Now for the Second Amendmant:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

You have to ask yourself how loose this language is... did the forefathers intend for "the people" to haves guns or did they mean a "well regulated militia"? I see these as two starkly different things. I think the intention is clear. They wanted to ensure that people had the right to defend themselves from Tyranny.... but that's so ironic!

Everyday, people obsess about issues like this one and they spout off about their patriotism and their right to do whatever they want because of the freedoms guarannteed to them by the bill of rights.... but while you're wasting your time, several large multi-national corporations are slowly buying up the world and your politician's and changing your rights for the profit of a few (oligarchy)....and you think you're protecting yourself with your hand guns... but you go buy gas, and those new electronics, and those clothes... and then you go to work in your corporate jobs and pay your taxes to support a war on drugs and a war on Iraq.... all the while this system is holding you down with it's profit over people mentality....

If you want to defend yourself against tyranny put down your guns and start voting and protesting corporate campaign financing and a corporations right as a person and the pending war on Iraq...

I also find it ironic that the same people who only want to hear people with their exact same point of view are the same ones wrapping themselves in the Constitution. If nothing else, that document should stand freedom of thought, opinion, and expression. Last time I checked, I'm entitled to my opinion. I'm sure I could dredge up a bunch of quotes for people who thought the same way if I wanted to, but its not worth it.

My only point is I don't think people should carry devices who's only purpose is to kill other people. In my mind, that doesn't interfere with anyones freedoms. That's the end of my participation in this discussion.
Hale's point is very valid in this discussion...

I am going to make a generalization here... most Republican types I've talked to are prone to a lack of debate skills... I get so frusterated that I've spent a good part of my life becoming an educated reasonable member of society to have someone who is opinionated just dismiss me on the grounds that he's right and I'm wrong.

The modern politician is the worst hypocrit... they wrap themselves in the constitution and patriotism and package it in a nice media package while they take money from lobbists and corporations and the top 1% of american wealth and proceed to pass laws that keep those same people in power... OVER YOU! And you're buying this shit up!!!! Bush has one of the highest approval ratings ever!!!

    And here's one more thing!

Another common theme I've seen in our discussions is bringing God into the picture...

The 6th commandment states: "Thou Shalt Not Kill"

I wasn't aware that those of your who choose to follow Christianity and own guns were such big hypocrites... let's not uphold a system of values without holding up our part of the bargain... actually living by the frickin' rules.

God didn't extend the right to bear arms when he spoke to Moses...

so please, don't bring religion into politics, it just doesn't work here...

I'll not continue it except for one minor point which I'll get back to. Although sometimes I like to keep it stirred up, I find that the best way is to drive the point home hard and on target so that there is no mistake or misunderstanding and leave it at that. I rarely label anyone directly, but as you can see they manage to do that to themselves. There are some leftwingers that I even like but that doesn't mean that I'm going to agree with them. To me it's not personal but some people are going to take it personal. That's their problem, not mine. Can't take the heat? Get out of the kitchen and don't start something you can't finish when you are clearly outgunned. Pun pun!

And now that minor point with yet another quotation:
Pick a house, me and my blade will gladly show you the folly of guns in houses, And guns in close quarters.
Pick my house and it would be your final folly.

    That's it for me kiddies.

I'm sorry I hijacked your thread Abaddon. When Bribo starts hauling out the clip art, its time to call it a day.

    Hi Garrett,

Stephanie's .357 is a Smith and Wesson stainless 686 with a 2-inch barrel. She's so good with the thing it scares the bejesus out of me. I'm going to be one FAITHFUL husband. That gun is accurate out to 25 or 30 feet at least, even with that tiny barrel. I've seen her put three shots almost through the same hole at 25 feet with it.

I have had a few large calibers ... but .357, .45 ACP, 10mm and .45 Long Colt are as big as I have gone in pistols. The 10mm was a stainless S&W 10-06 semi-auto .. nice gun. I fired a Desert Eagle once. The .50 cal Desert Eagle is so heavy that the recoil is slightly less than that of a .44 magnum. The .50 is a truly massive gun ... it looks like a normal-sized pistol with Arnold Schwarzenegger holding it.

In the end, I stepped down to 9 mm for my primary shooting, because a box of 50 bullets just costs $5.99 at Academy. Everything else is $10 and up ... and my range budget is not that high. So I bought first a CZ-75 9mm and now the Beretta 92FS. I really like the Beretta. It is matte stainless, and perhaps the most handsome pistol I have owned, aside from the Luger P08.

LMAO Bribo! Is that from your family album? :-P

It's okay Hale. I know there are people who disagree with me, and whom I cannot convince (although sometimes a trip to the range with a trunkload of munitions helps). Let me know if you'd ever like to go.

I don't expect any of you to agree with my opinions... but if I didn't voice my opinion then we would be at risk of getting one side of the story... and imbalance is dangerous.

Hope you don't mind that I'm different than you...

    Hey Bribo,

I don't apprieciate your attempt to shut us up...

It's a social problem we have in America... it has become very taboo to voice your opinion on things such as politics and religion, the things that matter in our daily lives. At the same time it's totally acceptable to spend all your time debating which Spice Girl is the hottest or which NSync member sucks more lollipops...

It seems like everyone is content to fall into line as long as the United States continues to be a profitable Democratic experiment... but this is at the expense of our natural resources and the world's population. Our arrogance is clear to the rest of the world's peoples but we have yet to look in the mirror.

By telling people not to debate you are encouraging the further marginalization of our culture and limiting yours and everyone else's general awareness and intelligence.

Now, I also understand that obviously this is a public forum which has the main purpose of serving our gaming needs, not our political views... no need to make that point.

    Nuff' said

Funny... I've found the same thing with Liberal Democrats

Bribo is rather bold today. I see he has lots of free time to surf google and find fun pictures to torture everyone with. We shall see how many more he has up his sleeve to try and kill this thread.
