    File Association

I basicly want to play my .avi files in DVix player without having to open Dvix and then selecting the file, but I cant find any kind of option to do that within the program, is their any way to do this through windows?

Sure, just change the player association for .avi file types. Here's how to do it in Windows XP; Win 2000 is similar, but your mileage may vary if you're using Win98 or (blecch) WinME.

Open to a directory that contains .avi files. Select Tools -> Folder Options. Select the File Types tab. Find the .avi extension type in the list. Click the "Change" button next to Opens With:. If you have WinXP, there will be a list of some of the apps installed on your computer; the DivX player may be among them. If it isn't, or if you're using another version of Windows, click the Browse button and browse to the .exe for your DivX player. (If you're using the latest "official" DivX player, it will be at C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Player 2.0 Alpha\DivX Player 2.0 Alpha.exe). Voila, all .avi files should now play in the DivX player!

    Hope that helps!

I might be out to lunch, but I just installed the DivX codec and not the player. Everything plays fine in Windows media player... so far.
