Hardware profiles and performance.

Well, in my quest to squeeze every last bit of FPS out of my machine, I set up a new hardware profile for games using suggestions from this very good website:

It took quite awhile to set up the profile to disable virtually every service not necessary to gaming.

Much to my chagrin, it resulted in no performance increase whatsoever in 3DMark 2001.

(sigh.)

Just thought I'd throw this out there as an important safety tip.

That is a great page, Gunny and I have followed the setting off of that page some time ago to get our XP running as clean and smooth as possible. We should have posted the link a long time ago.
