Squid, Whats The Prob With Mozilla?

I dont know much about it, its woked more than fine for me. I've been told that it only screwes up when viewing websites made via programs, instead of hand coded. But thats hearsay...

I dunno crap about it like I said, but you seem to know something. And I'm interested to hear it.

I prefer a ton of its features, like telling scripts what they can and can't do. blocking pictures that aren't from the website your viewing. You avoid a ton of annoying ads that way.

    Just curious...

I agree. I love Mozilla. Great browser. And it's free.

    Get with the program, Squidly.

Obviously it doesn't support standard HTML correctly in all cases.

Moveable Type is a web standard (tm). I've viewed my site using Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, Opera, on Windows, OSX and Linux platforms.

Mozilla (and maybe Lynx) are the only browsers that I'm aware of that choke on it.

I'm glad you guys like a browser that doesn't work.

I think Squidly needs some Rolaids for his tummy ache. :-)

I've been using Mozilla for almost 6mths and I have only run into maybe 2 or 3 small issues. Mozilla has been a wonderful browser. The features and the things you can do with it is great. And with the version 1.3 and the built in pop-up blocking, it's almost flawless in my mind. And for those 'occasional' sites that don't co-op I cough up IE for them. But it's pretty rare. It would just be nice to do a Windows update with Mozilla :-)

I agree... I use Mozilla on Linux and rarely have problems. When I do it's at sites such as ESPN which tends to get overly 'fancy' with it's design, etc.

In WinXP, I do use IE, but in the past I had been using Opera and it was great. My only wish right now for IE is tabs dammit!!

My site is anything but fancy. Like I said, if you guys like using a broken browser, more power to you.

Or maybe not visiting a "broken" site like your! =P

BTW... I'm using Mozilla 1.3 at home Squidly and I'm pretty sure I've visited your site with it with no problems. I'll have to take a look tonight.

We never had these fights or problems with 3270 terminals. I miss them and they will make you green with envy.

Sadly, I'm probably one of the only people on this forum who know what you're talking about.

My site isn't broken, it's coded to web standards. It's also running on 10's of thousands of other sites.

Actually, your site run through the W3C validator produces errors.

Also.. Mozilla is widely known as one of the most compliant web browsers out there:

    http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/browserupgrades.html

"Finally released in June 2002 after a long development period, the open-source Mozilla browser is the creation of the group behind the powerful Gecko rendering engine which powers many other browsers. Mozilla flies the flag as the most compliant of the current browsers and is available for every computer platform under the sun. Improved versions are available nightly."

Just about EVERY site will have validation errors, so saying its "standards compliant" is pretty hard to say to an 'absolute' term.

    Let me try again.

    1) 10s of thousands of sites use the *exact same code*.
    2) It has rendered flawlessly on 5 different browers on 3 different operating systems that I personally tried.
    3) Garrett claims that it renders correctly on a machine that he is running elsewhere.

I don't know what's going on with your Mozilla, or what version you're using. But it would seem to me that it should be able to display the exact same code that millions view with no problem every single day.
