Nvidia drivers.

I was playing around with my system and decided to change my vid drivers. I went from 6.5 to 10.8. Man what a boost I went from 2630 2001 Mark to 3089. Thats with no card overclocking. I am hoping it will improve the T2 gameplay just enough so I can bump my vid quality back up.

What Gforce card do you have? I have gf2 mx 32 mb, using 6.5 and I got a score close to 2000. Maybe I should try to do the same.

You also might want to remove your .dso files from your tribes 2 directory.. theres about 275 of them... Taking those out took my fps from 15-20 outside to 40-50 outside. Quite helpful bit of info I got from a MHz friend.

I have an Asus v7700 card ( basically Geforce 2 gts 32mbddr ram) An update to the above..I also downloaded nvmax v2 and did a little overclocking. I bumped the mem speed from 200->220 and 330->348. That raised my score to 3250.

Hey Z I can vouch for ya. I saw your post on the Linixtribes forum where you were talking about that. That was when I was first playing around getting my server set up. I got your back

Goob, are you using 3DMark 2000 to benchmark with or what ?
I took the suggestion of wiping the .dso files, and though it didn't seem to increase fps, it did seem to rid me of the nasty lock-ups I was getting since the last patch. Thanks for the post, Slaughter and the original observation Z.

PS, I'm using a Hercules GTS II 32meg @ 1024x768 using ver 10.8 drivers with win98SE. With 3DMark 2000 I get 5760

I'm sure Zorro has me beat but I'm hitting 7083 with my Leadtek GF2 GTS 64MB

I am using 3D Mark 2001. In Mark 2000 I usually get right at 8000.

I think I am going to upgrade soon too. OCZ has overclocked AMD's running at approx 1.5GHZ for 179 bucks. That and a killer new heatsink and I should be good to go.

Stop

All right you gearheads,

What are the dso files? I don't feel comfortable deleting something if I don't know what it does. Will I ever want them?

I have my GeForce II MX 32mb overclocked to 190/190, running on a Pentium III 733, 256 megs RAMBUS memory at 372 mhz - and I get 2181 marks in 3DMark 2001. Any other ideas to speed this thing up?

Also, how do I show framerate in T2? I did something Wolff told me (yeah, I know, heh), and all I got was a little white box in the upper left corner of my screen that said "framerate," with no readouts. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Abaddon

.dso files are generated by tribes 2. deleting them does not affect your game at all. promise.

Actually, the .dso files are compiled versions of the .cs files. Tribes has a preference towards the .dso files even if the .cs files are newer, after, say, a patch... If you delete them, they just get recompiled on your next start of Tribes. Painless and a good idea IMHO...

Cool

Ab,
For frame rates, hit the tilde (~) to bring up the command line, then type:

show("framecounter()");

It should show your fps. Also, I hate to ask, but do you have your AGP set to 4X in your bios? Some bios default to 1X and require a manual setting to 4X (don't know why ).

Good luck. Dr_K

Or you can get a nice little FPS hud at
http://scripts.tribalwar.com/crunchy/

There is also a nice little hud for ping, I use them both. Although I often get sad watching my fps drop everytime a lot of people get around me.
