Augh! I hate spiders! &*()_+ing 8-legged biting poisonous sumbitches. And that has to be the BIGGEST brown recluse I have ever seen (It looks like one, but they are usually no bigger than a quarter). I've been bitten by a brown recluse before, and it was no fun at all.

I notice that Stitch has not weighed in yet on this thread. He's probably hiding...

I would not have gathered that thing up in tissue paper. It had BOOT written all over it.

That thing is a monster. I need one of those in my house to kill pests.
You should see the size of some of the centipedes in Hawaii, 5 inch long gigantic things... and damn they can move fast.

indiana jones hates snakes, almost the rest of the world hates spiders.
personally, i don't mind the legged creatures. they've done nothing to piss me off, and they're rather cool to photograph with a macro lens. to each their own, i suppose.
I like snakes and lizards, had many as pets (I still miss Smaug my Iguanna, sniffle).
That spider does not look like a brown recluse to me. It looks a lot like the common wood spiders we get around here and is much smaller even. We get some spiders here the size of rats, big and nasty wood spiders.
Once after I had ACL replacement surgery (yep, I got a dead guy's legement in my left knee sometime I'll share how I broke it, you guys would appreciate it). But I was out of action for a couple weeks back then and my roomates took care of me. One afternoon a mouse was running along hugging the wall oposite my chair. Then I realized that mouse had way too many legs.
I spent 4 hours with my cane in hand watching the the shelf unit he was hiding behind, too scared to even make the trip to the bathroom because the little bastard might move. When Nick came home I made him move the cupbord and kill the beastie, I was too lame to move it myself or believe me it would have been pancaked. Only then could I take a piss. Luckly he understood, his wife is not keen on the things either.
Where I grew up Black Widows are very common (Yakima in Central Washington, the high desert). I saw some big widows but the wood spiders around here can be quite literaly the size of small tarantula's.

Reminds me of the time I caught leprosy and half my body disolved in a vapid pool of puss. Damn that was inconvenient.
