And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.
Watched this yesterday. Kind of felt sorry for the lion. I was hoping he would take that guys head off.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.
I'm shocked that you'd feel that way given the fact that you've recently joined the legions of red-blooded meatitarians.

Anyone want to go big game hunter hunting with me?

I found that video pretty sad and pathetic. I don't understand people who get a thrill out of killing an animal who is in it's own habitat and causing harm to no one. No reason for the hunt such as population control, etc. No purpose other than the "thrill of the kill".
If any of those hunters want to use a "natural survival of the strongest" as their explanation, they should attack the lion with no weapon.. or I'd be happy to be locked in a cage or room with them to prove my point.

A minor point Hylander, but the strength of man has always been his intellect. In that regard, mankind is clearly the "fittest of all".
So some dudes shot a big cat ten or twenty years ago. Big freaking deal. That you guys are getting all teared up over it speaks to the continued pussification of the American male. Suck it up. You all are starting to worry me.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a gun ownership advocate and hunting advocate, but I see nothing worthy of shooting a lion who is sitting onthe Savannah minding his own business. This is pure "sport" hunting and the lion will more thank likely jsut end up as a rug or ornament for some guys den. I doubt he'll be making Simba sausage from the meat.

I'm kinda amazed at what crappy shots they were. A rifle with a scope and a bipod from 200 feet and they couldn't get a clean kill?
Gimme a break. They could've hit it with a rock. After that performance I was hoping the lion would take the guy's head off as well.
Hasta,
Boom
It would have been more impressive if he attaacked the lion Gladiator style. Now that's sporting!

Yeah the sport of the olde tyme safari is a thing of days past.
Still getting all "choked up" is silly. Leave that crap to PETA.
It isn't an endangered species, and it's funny to see the "hunters" pissing their pants.

It has nothing to do with getting choked up and PETA is a bunch of whackos. "I BBQ in their general direction.."Originally posted by [AK]Squidly

The point remains I find it sad that they find it fun and get so much enjoyment out of it, or have a need to prove their manhood to themselves through killing an animal for no other reason except for the sake of killing it. Hey, I like Ted Nugent too, but I think videos like that are a strong blow to your "strength of man has always been his intellect" argument.
I'm in agreement with Bribo, and I've said it before that I believe in the right to gun ownership (even requested info and advice on purchasing a hand gun) and I have nothing against hunting per se. I just don't see the fun in sitting in a tree for 5 hours starting at 5AM freezing my balls off waiting for Bambi to walk by so I can kill it. Even worse to spend probably hundreds or thousands of dollars to have someone drive me out into the middle of the Safari so I can attempt to kill something. In many cases hunting serves at least some humane purpose of population control and/or with the donation of food to the needy, etc.
Going on a "vacation" and into the wild to kill an animal that may not be endangered, but is not overly populated either and whose population has been halved over the last 50 years, just shows a great deal of ignorance and I feel sorry for anyone who finds that 'adventuresome' or believes it proves something about their self worth.

If that guy goes with me it won't be the lion that gets hunted.
