BFV is most certainly vid card limited. Raising my cpu speed and FSB from 414 to 440 did nada but throwin a few more MHZ at the FX5900 was very noticable. currently running it at 454/946 from 400/850.

Them raptor sound sweet. I wouldnt mind getting a couple myself! I do have a sata Raid chip on my current board. i wonder how much faster it would be loading wise. Like to hear bout your results anyway.

I did come across a budget A64 comparison of sorts where the dood used sata raptors and he was sitting in winxp 7 minutes after first BOOT.

Marginal overclocks are hardly conclusive. Try the same video card in a 2.6 GHZ machine with 512 Meg and a 3.02 GHZ machine with a gig of memory.

512 to 1 gig of course that will make a diff, 2.6 to 3.2 some to that was assumed already

my overclock from 414 to 440 207 to 220 in bios is actually a 6.5% overclock via FSB speed and CPU if i dont change multiplier. in this case 207x11 = 2277 220x11 = 2420 not to mention about 200mb's more mem bandwidth.

what im referring to is with most of us already (and now stitch) running fast CPU's and high FSB's with more than 512 ram the vid card seems to be the limiting factor.

i cant play in the match and im bored so lets talk cards:

    9600pro is 4x1 pipes

    9800pro is 8x1 pipes

    5900 is 4x2 or 8x1

just for fun nv40 is to be 16x1! and ATI 420 is to be 12x1 supposedly

the higher clockspeeds help the 9600pro out a bit 4 pipes @ 400mhz = 1600 fillrate compared to an 9800pro @ 350x8 = 2800mpixels! this is why overclocking the 9600 becomes very effective. gets it to 9700 pro fillrates if you can hit close to 500 core speed. 9700pro 300x8 = 2400 so close at least. ALso the RV350 core has some nice enhancements over the older r300 cores which helps a good bit specially with mem bandwidth and dx9. Now my formula is basic but if u care to it check it out its close enough.

even with my card pushing almost 3700 fillrate i can greatly notice FPS improvements or reductions depending on graphic settings in game or global. Crank in game graphics up to HIGHest and u will see what i mean. To get competitive FPS at 1280x960 i have to run performance settings and very little Anisotropy with medium to high in game. Competitive for me is 70-100.

Now of course im not taking shaders and other factors into account. but the general conclusions do apply. seems to me 9600pro has to be tweaked a bit to enjoy decent FPS at a reasonable res say 1024x768. Tweaking global D3d settings to performance on Hardnoks highly overclocked 9600pro yielded good results for 1024x768.

bottom line tho BFV @1600 x 1200 with medium graphics even on 5900 or 9800 not to much fun less u like dying alot.

NAM is the First game ive played lately to finally put a hurting on me card to be honest

I've got the game maxed out with my ATI 9700 pro and I notice no lagging or performance hits at all (on my 3ghz/1gig box.)

As always YMMV when it comes to these things.

The controls seem to be working fine on my system.

The game works wonderfully for me with a card that's more than a year past it's prime. I'm talking - smooth as silk.

Not sure why I'd want to patch to "see what you're seeing"...

the in game detail sliders dont appear to work on ATI cards is what some guys were saying man. I could be wrong no worries =)

Nothing wrong with the 9700pro either dood great card actually 8pipes is the main thing i think BFV needs for optimal play, 16 would jus be heavenly. When yah crank the in game slider to highest the game looks fantastic but its a lil slow at high res for my taste.

If your card does work @ highest details smoothly and is most playable then im curious why a few 9600 pro doods are not happy with FPS even at lower settins hmm.

we should compare some screenshots see if the in game details are similar.

My sliders work. Screenshots are static so they don't really prove much other than how pretty that one frame was.

    <bad>Damn you Bribo! </bad>

You forgot to tell Squidly I wasn't done with my sweet Cable Managment skillz! I do have to apologize for the 'bad hair day' pc that you see in the picture above. I just wanted to get it working before I spent two plus hours getting the cables just right to then have to tear it apart if something was wrong. You guys will get a nice set of pictures this weekend!

    <bad> Damn you Bribo! </bad>
