I'm looking to go NASA racing or back to the SCCA at some point, so I'm looking for something along these lines:

Supras are very nice and also very expensive. Parts are also outragous but if you got deep pockets then more power to ya. There is a red twin turbo thats dyno'd over 700 hp that runs around my home town. One of the reasons I am getting out of a sport compact / import is the cost for go fast parts I spent well over $5k in go fast bits and still could have spent alot more where as with the domestic the parts are alot more reasonably priced. This has been my experience anyways. Anyways Supras are nice

The reason import prices are more expensive is because they last.. you don't have to re-purchase them every 10,000 miles like domestic.

Supras are not cheap.. all depending on how far you want to go. You can get a nice Twin Turbo for around $20K in decent shape with not needing much more than a 'freshening'. If you plan to race it competitively, that is not much of a concern anyways as you will be doing some work to the car regardless.

If you go Mk3's, you can get them in good shape for well under $7,500 and with a few grand in parts, you can have 400hp.

There are Supras for sale on SupraStore.com from $20K up to $110K.

How fast do you want your wallet to go?

Why is there a spoiler on the car???? It's front wheel drive, it defeats the purpose......

Hey Yoga Man, A Toyota Supra is NOT FWD. It's RWD and with that cars stock top speed, the spoiler does actually have an effect on handling. Even more so when modified and pumps our 700 - 1050 hp.

Nobody drives them at top speed nearly often enough to justify the spoiler unless they live in Nevada. And not even then.

Admit it - it's simply bling bling (not that there's anything wrong with that.) It's like the mag on my paintball gun.

I've always thought that when the day comes that my non-existant kid goes to buy his first car, I'd make sure it was a front wheel drive with the biggest rear wing in the world.

I figure it would limit the top speed to about 60 mph, not because of the drag but because at any speed above 60, the front wheels come off the ground...

As I said, when purchased and used for racing, it most certainly has an effect although there are more effective after market spoilers for racing. For every day driving? Little effect. Very similar to a Porsche or Crossfire auto-spoiler that engages once you reach a certain speed. I generally do not like "handle" spoilers.. but I did like that factory spoiler from Toyota on the Supra. The Supra also had the option of a retractable front spoiler. Those twin turbos are butter! The first kicks in around 2000 RPM for a smooth impact and then the second gives you a serious kick in the ass around 4500 RPM. I dream of getting one of those babies hooked up on the front stretch at Watkins. The fastest I've ever driven was in the 140 range in a GT-1 back in the SCCA. That's a rush until you realize the down slope and ever decreasing distance to the 90 at the end of the run. Then you better have durable underwear.

But I whole heartedly agree in general... I think its funnier than hell watch kids put those huge touring spoilers on Crapaliers, Civics, and Acura's. LOL As long as they like the looks, I guess that is all that matters. As long as they aren't fulling themselves into thinking it 'helps' their performance.

As Sonic Said, that was pretty funny about the front wheels coming off the ground!
