    Those salty WWII vets...

So I was listening to "Imus" on the radio a few days ago, and they had an audio clip on from the Today show (I think). Matt Lauer (I believe) was interviewing some WWII vet (I'll refer to him as Mr. Smith, because I can't remember the name) who had been part of the D-Day landing. This is paraphrased:

ML: So here we are today on the anniversary of the allied landing at Normandie. With me is a gentleman who was part of that landing, Mr. Smith. Hello, Mr. Smith.

    WWII Vet: Hello.

ML: So you were here all those years ago...

WWII Vet: Yep. In fact today is also my birthday. I'm 82 years old.

ML: Or as we like to say, 82 years young...

WWII Vet, after a brief pause: Up your ass...

I nearly fell down when I heard this exchange... though his voice was creaky, the derision in the vet's voice was so obvious it was downright hilarious.

I'm not sure that it was Matt Lauer or the Today show...but it was one of those shows and morning anchors.

    Transcript found here.

It's from the Keith Olbermann show.

And when you devote nearly 48 hours of coverage to an event, as MSNBC did over the 60th anniversary weekend of D-Day, featuring dozens of interviews with salty old war veteran, you‘re bound to have one or two of those famous live TV moments. We‘d like to present one of them to you, now. Not any way to in any way denigrate the job done by our reporter Preston Mendenhall nor his interview, or his interview subject, the former Corporal Harry Hudek, who parachuted into Normandy on that fateful day in 1944. Sorry, Preston, sorry Corporal Hudek, this just really made us laugh.

    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRESTON MENDENHALL, NBC CORRESPONDENT: Harry, can you tell us how old you are today?

CORPORAL HARRY HUDEK, WORLD WAR II VETERAN: I‘m 82 years old.

MENDENHALL: Eight-two years young, might be a better way to put it.

    HUDEK: Up your (EXPLICIT DELETED).

    (END VIDEO CLIP)

OLBERMANN: Ah, what the hell captain, you guys saved the free world, you talk what ever way you want.

We need a whole lot more of those "salty veterans" if you ask me.

No PC BS and Liberal "group huggie" Wussism.

I'm surprised I got it as close as I did after only hearing it once. A couple of more people down the "hearsay" chain and it'd be Toby Keith interviewing Sasha Cohen about the triple lutz she screwed up in Caen (after which she fell on her ass.)

Is Sasha Cohen a Christina Ricci look-alike, or what?

Yep, except for the chest. Lets just say that God chose to take ALL of Sasha's share and give it to Christina.

But I'll wager that Christina can't skate that well...

Also, in the future I'd appreciate it if you crop out the weird lookin' dudes in bandanas.
