I believe in real world testing, not marketing hype! Hell, todays graphic cards don't even benefit from 8X over 4X AGP!!

Actually both ATI's and NVidia's current gen chips have the PCIe variants all but ready to ship. Performance is not the reason to buy PCIe over AGP, Hylander is correct we are not even bandwidth limited in that department however the current PCI busses we use are choking systems badly and this new gen PCIe bus will help out that situation alot!

Im considering buying the PCI 6800GT only so im not hindering myself come socket939 mobo time.

Anandtech has images of the PCI variants of both cards already i believe. They may have tested a 6800GT out on the new 915intel chipset as well. ATI says its PCIe compat is chip level while Nvidia uses a type of AGP/PCI bridge very near the core of the GPU.

Well there we have it, the R423, quite unexciting to say the least and certainly not worth contemplating if you already have a X800XT AGP board. Its also clear that right now PCIe doesnt have the hardware available to stress its theoretical bandwidth limitations with the R423 performing no better and in some cases slightly worse than its AGP counterpart.

oooh now thats an interesting point DOod. cant wait for them alienware reviews to hit. Man could u imagine a 1000 worth of cards in one box only to have them be old tech in a year! Be simply amazing tho im sure, least once u bring them to aggressive enough settings that defeat the cpu limitations that these new cards are encountering.
