For those of you who get the NASA channel, today might be a good day to watch. At 2:40 pm PDT the two crewmembers aboard the International Space Station will both be spacewalking to repair a crucial steering device. It's a touch-and-go mission as they are wearing Russian space suits in lieu of their non-functional American units. When they attempted this last Thursday the mission was aborted after a rapid loss of pressure was detected in one of the suit's primary oxygen tanks. The two crew members will be using an odd amalgamation of Russian and American gear as they have not been supplied with new equipment since the Columbia disaster.
Then, later today at 7:36 pm PDT the Cassini spacecraft will fire its retro rockets and enter orbit around Saturn after a seven year journey to become the first spacecraft to orbit our fifth planet.
I figure I'll check out both, interspersed with a break for our DC match.
