Mozilla Firefox "Locate link browser" bug fix

FYI. Here's a problem I was having and the fix I found, just in case any of you are having the same problem:

Installed Firefox and now when I click on a URL in Outlook, a dialog box appeared saying Locate Link Browser, even though Firefox had already launched. So I pointed the dialog box to firefox.exe and now 2 Firefox windows launch each time I click on a URL.

Here's the fix that worked for me:
(I didn't write the following part, so pardon the structure)

    Double-click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    Click the File Types tab.
Under Extension, locate the "N/A" entry, and then locate the "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" entry under File Types.
    Click Advanced.
Under Actions, edit Open and remove the checkbox tick in DDE, press OK. select Open
Click Set Default, and then click OK two times

do that for URL: HyperText with security
also and maybe for HTML HTM if still doesn't work. and you'll be fine
    Hasta,
    Boom

The problem I have when FF is my primary browser is that any link I click on in an email or newsgroup post will not open at all. I have to manually copy and paste. Kind of a PITA.

Hmm. That's awfully strange. I don't have that problem at all.

I'm wondering if playing around with the settings in the above post might help. It seems to be the main way to control associations and DLLs.

I found out the problem after doing a little digging. I have Maxthon and Firefox installed and Maxthon had itself as the default browser along with Firefox... so in essence, I had 2 "default" browsers.

So what I did was in options in Maxthon, I set IE as my default browser. Then, I started up Firefox and had it check to see if it was default browser, and it wasn't. So I selected to make Firefox my default browser and now links in email, etc open up Firefox without a problem.

So it must have been some kind of conflict between IE, Maxthon (which uses IE) , and Firefox.
