    Question

Well I deffinatly had fun last night, but it didn't seem like anything overly useful was accomplished. I am not really sure how things work in a tribe, (this being my first one and everything) but I am anxious to get some positions worked out. Then in smaller groups of either offensive or defensive men, go from map to map and really look them over. Figuring out routs, best places for turrets, or whatever the case may be. Also Roger Wilco. I have never used it before, but I am guessing it requires a little getting used to. I am also guessing the most seccessful teams out there will have it mastered.

I also wanted to comment on Zorro's idea of the relay man usage for flag capping. Just based on pubbing, one guy going in with a sensor jamming pack probably would work against a team that relies on their turrets heavily. But against a good team with a well organized defence, I don't know. Cracking a good defence won't be the easiest thing in the world to do. That tactic possibly could work once or twice before they catch on and counter it. But then of course once or twice could very well win the game. I have a feeling the best T2 teams will be those that are creative and use everything at their disposal.

Anyway a lot of this might be fairly obvious, a lot of it you guys probably did in T1, but I thought I would just post my newbie opinion

Here is a suggestion for teamplay that will give us opportunity to play and comm in pub games.

We have the built in chat room which is great for idling. We meet up there, one of us tracks down a server, reports back if its good, etc. Then everyone can jump in together. Our Thursday night practice might work well for this. Fire up RW, head into chat room, verify communications between all of us and launch into a server.

5150 servers "East" "East2" and "West" "Porn Shop" have good competition and are always full.

Team-aYg (Chicago) good admins, competition is good and is central to all of us.

NEEC 24hr Tribes2 server is in Dallas area...Good Admins, competiton is good and is somewhat central to all of us.

I'll post others as I remember (having a senior moment right now).

First, thanks for the invite to play. It was fun and it showed me that I have a bit more work to do to catch up with you guys.
I too was expecting a bit more structure, but with ironing out the bugs, I can certainly understand the free play. Sorry if my play was a bit timid, I didn't want to go charging off doing my own thing (and stepping on anyones toes) so I tended to hang around base doing the repair/defend bit.
Some kind of voice comm, whether RW, GV or ? would be very desirable. I'm still having to think too long with the voice binds (maybe if I can remember where I put my Ginko Biloba) :^) and typing out more than a few words can slow the action at the most critical times. The chat room sounds good as a point to coordinate from.

Looking forward to the next round, Dr_K

I would be interested to see if the Voice Comm in T2 has improved much with the advent of GSM after the latest patch...

Voice coms have not improved at all for me with the last patch.

Team aYg's server is very good too. I have played on there a bit too and liked the connection and admins.

Once the gameplay is a bit more stable and we have had a chance to mess around a bit I am sure we will see a bit more tactical development. Right now everyone seems to be having a heck of a time just running the game much less working out tactics.

RW is just one option. I am up for trying others, that gamevoice thing looks pretty good to me (I read they have an option for press to talk for me). Whatever works the best for the most people is good but I do think that voice comms is a must. If we are going to have a lot of people on voice coms we might want to find a good way to identify ourselves lest we get confused as to who is talking. I do wish the voice coms in Tribes worked better, I like the name flashing on the screen for who is talking.

One sugestion I have is I want to get voice coms going and have us as a group jump on to a big server, like 20-30 people. That is the best way to get the hang of fighting together, to actualy fight together against and with others. Buddy lists will help with this and a voice com program will be sweet for us to keep up with what we are doing. I have found the {BZ} Singularity server to be pretty good with admins on most times, granted I have not been on that server what anyone would consider a "lot" but the times I have been on they seemed a good bunch, stable server with lots of people and always an admin on to kick the idiots which they do when they know about them. Any other servers out there that anyone has played around on and found to be OK?

On another note, I got a Geoforce card this last weekend. An Asus 7700, Geoforce 2 GTS Delux 64Mb DDR, for just over 200 bucks with tax. Had the money so I gots the card, my framerate problems have vanished. Getting great smooth gameplay indoors and out with graphics cranked. To be honest it does slow down in a 50 player game when I turn toward the part of the map with the most players in that direction but not much. Considering the crap framerates I am used to this is more than acceptable. When vehicles or turrets are smoking there is no hit at all to framerates now. 32 bit textures and the high res character models look awsome!

    peace,

I think that practices will start to get more serious pretty soon, especially when we have enough people to actually compete. For now, however, they are just good opportunities for everyone to get together and play. It's the only day of the week that I can get into a game with more than a few other AKers. Problems with the game are, as Wid has pointed out, definately still an obtacle. Some of us (Faxman, Slaughter, and myself) have been having a lot of connection problems with the AK server, which prevent us from being particularly productive. Yesterday, my pings never went below 315, and were spiking over 400 regularly.
