Anyone played America's Army?

I was thinking that free is an awfully good price but haven't tried it yet.

What's attracting me is remembering when I used to play Quake in, I think, Team Arena mode? It's a type of game where when you're killed, you're out for the rest of the round and the team with the last man standing is the winner. It was always great fun because both teams could observe their man and also chat with everyone else in the game while they were "dead."

Although we've got voice comms now, it was great fun to be the last man standing and get the win for your team while getting cheered on.

I've read that AA has a similar mode. Anyone tried it yet?

I played it maybe once or twice a long time ago. I still have it loaded, but I'm sure I'm a few updates or versions behind by now. It was "OK".

Yeah, I had played it shortly after it first came out. It had some good points and some pretty bad points. Forcing the player to complete training in solo mode, and ranking high to be able to get the specilized equipment is kinda a cool option, but it irked me that when I wasn't getting near perfects to get the highest rankings in gunmanship (to be a sniper) you'd have to go through like minutes of crap just to get back into action, only to repeat, heh.

Perhaps it'd be worth that extra effort if we had a few guys jumping into it (as personally I'd be quite willing to put in the time, now that they've got special forces expantion out.); being a bit bored with bf. Hopefully .8 will come out soon to refire the dc zest.

I've played AA on and off for a while now. The new version is really awesome and the whole game in terms of graphics quality and sound is second to none. Plus your right, the price is right baby!

I'd be up for maybe getting a group together and popping on a server. I'm sure Rocks would be in on this also. Right Rocks????

Stitch, Rocks, Bribo and myself played this for a while when it first came out, I like the fact you have to qualify in marksmanship in order to go to sniper school. I passed both but not sure if it saves your info anywhere. I would be into this it is a lot like Rainbow six in game play and realism.

Cool then my sniper cert may still be there, how long since you last played though AB?

I'm certed in everything, and I think my current rank is Sargent. So I can produce squad activites on the server. I think this is gonna be a blast when we all sign in!!

EDIT: Nope I'm just a grunt I checked my stats, so were all on the same page. BUT I'm sniper certed and special force certed ! woo Hoo!!

It is, but its the army so you have to earn your way in.
