It thus negates background noise of your local environment - so you can enjoy your tunes in perfect quiet. Particularly useful for airplane traffic. I see that they range from $35 for Wal-mart units up to about $200 for Bose. A lot of units are priced around $70. I'd like a compact set that I can travel with. I haven't a clue what's good, what's bad, and what the difference between good and bad is for this topic - anyone with experience out there?
